So if I continue to get my pensions in my Canadian bank account and transfer 65,000 bhat each month, that will meet the requirement? I somehow had the idea that the deposit had to come from the source of my pensions.
I won't answer for James but when I want info about the rules, I go to the Thai Consulate online site in Vancouver. But you have to be careful checking the Consulate site. Right now it still says Canadians can stay for 30 days visa exempt but in another spot it has the updated info re the 60 exemption.
Good to know. I've been trying to get my tax deduction changed for many months but they still haven't done it so I'm not surprised that you had problems. Also I worked for Service Canada for 19 years. While there are many great people working there who do their best for their clients, there are lots who don't give a damn.
Thanks for responding. I'm glad you got your visa. What part of Thailand are you in? Has it been a good move so far?
I just came across this post and am wondering how your visa process went. I'm in the same position with 3 Canadian pensions. Were you able to get your retirement visa? If so, did you run into any other problems?
I've seen lots of posts from people who have been visiting Thailand for many years before retiring there. I've only been once but have visited many areas so I had a good overview. I think making such an important life decision without visiting first is pretty unusual.
