Finally Approved!

Update on previous posts (Los Angeles):

Application #1: January 24, 2024

Rejected on February 15, 2025, for the following reason:

> "Please reapply visa, the name on the application is incorrect. Please fill in the name/middle name/surname/suffix or “-“ or spacing, no more no less, exactly as it appears on the travel document /passport."

When I filled out the next application, I discovered that the system had deleted my middle name before the final submission. Going back to the beginning and filling everything out again made the names stick.

Application #2: February 15, 2025

On February 20, they emailed requesting the following documents:

> —Business portfolio

I thought I had already given this in the form of a cover letter with links to much of my work. I just expanded it with a bit more commentary. I also included my entire CV, just to give them more background.

> —Business registration of the company

My main employer is a non-profit, so I just used their public records available on Propublica.org

> —Your recent tax return

I hadn't filed yet, so I rushed to file and paid more than I should have. I was a little worried about this because I only had the return form from TurboTax that said "unofficial copy" on it. I tried to get the "official transcript" through the IRS site, but it was a huge hassle. I had to order a new social security card to access it because I couldn't find my original social security card. I gave up and just used the "unofficial copy," and that worked out.

> —Guarantee letter from the company implies that you work remotely

I requested this from my employer. They just had to give a few sentences spelling out that I work remotely and do not have to report to an office. This was only implied in my contract and not explicitly stated.

> —Employment contract or employment certificate from company

This I had already given. I just resubmitted the same documents here.

Finally, on March 6, 2025. I was approved.

In the meantime, not knowing what would happen, and since my life and things are here, I returned to Thailand on a standard 60-day visa exemption. I was prepared to go through an agent if things didn't work out.

At the airport, for the first time ever, they asked me what my visa status was. Since I had previously been in Thailand for 2 years on an ED visa, I was prepared for questions and had printed out the page from the DTV site showing that my application was pending. This satisfied the passport-control person.

Now, all I have to do is leave Thailand sometime before the end of April and come back on my DTV to activate it.

Overall, it was a frustrating and nerve-wracking process, especially the first rejection over a technical glitch. But I'm glad it's over, and now I can continue to live and work here in peace!

Question⁉️

I am applying for the Thai DTV visa from the Washington Embassy. I’ve seen many posts mentioning that applicants have included a letter of intent and bank statements showing their monthly income. However, the official website only lists the required documents as proof of current location, financial proof of 500,000 THB, and an employment certificate. Would adding these extra documents be beneficial? And if so, where would I submit them since there doesn’t seem to be a designated place?

Thank you in advance for any insights!

new to the group and would like to understand how the DTV works in terms of bringing over a spouse and child. I’ve heard that once an individual qualifies for the DTV, they can include their spouse and child in the process. Is this correct? If not, could someone clarify the steps or requirements for sponsoring family members under the DTV?

Hey!

I wanted to share my experience in Taipei (got approved!).

I am a remote worker in a global company, applied for workation.

Total time was one week.

I applied on Tuesday all the requesdted documents. They asked for some more documents like a bank document showing the salary transactions in the actual account abd company license. I added it on Wednesday (the day after) and was invited to an interview on Monday, the week after.

The interview was good, the interviewer was nice but at the same time gave me a feeling like I'm in a job interview. She asked questions about my job and why I'm applying in Taipei and not in my home country.

In the interview she said that I will get a final answer by the end of the week. I got the approval after four hours :)

The all process was exactly one week. Got to Taipei on Tuesday and I was off to Bangkok by Monday night, the week after.

Thought I'd share my DTV process for those who is going medical route in HCMC Vietnam.

-Applied for HCMC Consulate

-Took a day before requesting for documents

-I moved money to personal bank account to be sure (well over the 500k baht since it's joint )

-for documentation of what medical care plan

-I'm an athlete with injuries so I showed diagnosis, MRI's, multiple doctors visits, PT , receipts, and treatment plan over the next few months. (all done at thai hospitals and had wet stamps) Also had a cover letter explaining what each document was.

-they replied and said my bank statement was not correct (which was the only option I had from my bank). so I took a screenshot of the account activities and sent that with the previous bank statements that they said was not a bank statement.

-They followed up and asked for a selfie with the date and my name on the receipt at the location I'm in.

-Approved 3 days later.

I've also found when it asked for help here there were a couple trolls who weren't very knowledgeable and specifically an old guy who was a "top contributor" that sounded adamant I won't get it.

so just be prepared in the requirements and read other stories of what others have submitted.

Hello guys,

I apply in Hanoi and now they asked me for a document but I'm not sure what this document looks like.

My purpose is freelance, so I provided framework agreements with two agencies I work for.

Now the asked me for a "Business registration of company you're currently working with." Does it mean I have to ask my agencies to give me some document that prove they registered their businesses?

Thanks!

Finally got my DTV approved. Here's how my process went:

Applied at the US Washington Embassy under the Workation Category

- Applied at the end of December

- After 2 days, I received a request for more docs, which were Employment Verification and Location. I provided all of those.

- After a few days, I received a request for payment slips. I provided my deposit slips from clients.

- After a few days, I received a request for my actual IRS tax filing.

All in all, it took 1 whole month from submission to getting approved. I've read some people getting it a lot sooner (few days). But I would budget at least 1 month.

Also, be ready to provide a ton of documents like tax filings, payment slips and anything related to your client work. Its totally normal for them to reach out several times during the process requesting additional documents.

Hope that helps!

Have you all ever been in a situation like this? I can show all my employment certificates, but there is difficulty in showing the signer’s passport due to Confidential. Any suggestions for this situation? I am currently applying in Hanoi, VN under remote work.

Hello everyone,

I applied for DTV in Hanoi on Sunday night (19th) and have already attached my employment contract and related documents. I am currently working remotely for a company based in Singapore.

Today, I received a request for additional documents, but I am not entirely sure what they are asking for. Has anyone experienced a similar situation before? If so, could you please share what additional documents were required?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice. Thank you in advance!

P.S : I am Myanmar Passport holder
