Hi all, does anyone have a recent (1-2 months) list of extension requirements for O-A (retirement) visa from Koh Samui immigration office? Time to extend again or change to O (due to insurance).

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual inquires about the latest extension requirements for the O-A retirement visa specifically at the Koh Samui immigration office. There is a discussion regarding the inability to switch from a non-OA visa to a non-O visa at immigration and the implications of insurance requirements for future extensions.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Does anyone have a recent requirements list (the piece of paper they have there), for the O-A retirement visa, from the Samui office?

You can't change to non-O at immigration. Once you extend a non-OA visa you will be required to have the insurance for every future extension. The only way to switch to non-O and get rid of the insurance requirement is to leave Thailand without a re-entry permit and let everything lapse, and then re-enter Thailand and start over with a new 90 day non-O visa and 800,000 baht.

@Bra****
, thank you. I'm Canadian so I am able to get the monthly income letter from my Embassy.

@Brent ******
A hint. Get the letter while you are in Canada. Check to make sure: 1) that the Federal Gov't will send out email letters to you, and 2) that they will send snail mail hard copies to both a Canadian and non-Canadian address.

None of this will apply
@Ma**
, I am currently in Thailand on an O-A visa.

I have done 1 extension on the O-A and got the income letter from the Embassy in BKK.

@Brent ******
then you'll still need to leave and start over, but just use the income letter.

The requirements for non-OA extension are the same as non-O plus insurance, and you should always go to immigration and ask for the letter of requirements for yourself as they can change from year to year and no way of knowing if or when they change.

@Bra****
, I am also planning to get the requirements directly from the immigration office.

Thank you for your feedback.
