What paperwork do I need to return to Thailand with a Non-O Visa and Re-Entry Permit?

Could you please give me some Visa advice? I entered Thailand on a Canadian passport via Suvarnabhumi Nov. 4, 2021 and on a Non-O Visa. My wife is Thai and I applied at Udon Thani on March 3, 2022 for a 1 year extension based on Marriage. This was granted and a stamp was put in my passport for a "Re-Entry Permit" valid until Feb. 1, 2023. We left Thailand on March 30, 2022 for Canada and now have tickets to enter Thailand on October 6, 2022 and to return to Canada on March 30, 2023. My questions are: (1) what paperwork do I need to fly back to Thailand this coming October 6. Is my "Immigration Thailand Re-Entry Permit all that I need? (2) I will have Canadian health insurance ($10 million). Do I need any other insurance, i.e. "Covid Insurance"? (3) Any other docs-before it was Thailand Pass? Many thanks for your time and consideration

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on returning to Thailand with a Non-O Visa and a Re-Entry Permit. They inquire about necessary paperwork, potential insurance needs, and any additional documents required for re-entry. Responses confirm that valid passport, Re-Entry Permit, and possibly a Covid vaccination certificate are sufficient for their return, and that no additional insurance is mandated for entry.

You do not need any insurance or paperwork to re-enter Thailand, other than your passport and a Covid vaccination certificate. If you are not vaccinated you will need a negative test result.

Note that the permit to stay extension and the re-entry permit are 2 separate permits. Both will still be valid in October so you are ok. But your re-entry permit is a permit for a single entry. If you leave Thailand for a second time and intend to re-enter you will have to apply for a new re-entry permit. You can apply for a single, or a more expensive multiple one, depending on your travelling plans.

Thanks very much Ludwig. That is great news and so good of you to answer my query. Yes I am triple vaccinated. Yes, we may leave the country so yes I will pay the appropriate fee.

Thanks Ludwig and Tod. I understand I will need more re-entry permits if we leave Thailand after we get back this time. I think we may go to Laos and/or Vietnam and will get it in Udon before we leave the country. Again, thanks very much for staying with me on this!

you can purchase a re-entry permit either at an immigration office in town or at the immigration counter of an international airport before leaving Thailand. You will need the TM8 form, copy of passport (main page and visa) and a 4x6 photo.

let's wait until they get back from this trip before they get another re-entry permit, they have a valid one now ๐Ÿ™‚

Tod, one more question please. When will I have to apply in Udon for a new one year extension of my Non-O visa? My current one expires on Feb. 1, 2023. Again, Thanks!

@Mark ********
you can apply when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp .

okay you got some of your wires crossed, You do NOT need any insurance to enter, you're fine to come in, you will get stamped until until the expiration date of your current extension Feb 1 2023 without any issues at all

Thanks Tod. Great news on the insurance. I always get Canadian travel insurance anyway, but had wondered about the "Covid" insurance. As time rolls on towards Feb. 1, I will apply for a new one year extension. Do I have to check in with Udon Immigration within 90 days after my Oct. 6 2022 arrival? Thanks again.

@Mark ********
when you get back into the country you go to your immigration office and file a TM30 <notification of foreigner in residence form,

Then 89 days from the date you stamp back in you have a 90 day report due (or Jan 3rd if you come back Oct 6th)
