TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, Thai banks do offer various types of hospital insurance, including some that provide coverage up to 500,000 THB. However, the quality of insurance varies, with some policies being described as insufficient for older individuals and potentially excluding coverage for pre-existing conditions. Some users noted that basic coverage, such as a 10,000 THB accident policy, can be straightforward with direct hospital acceptance, eliminating the need for claims. Additionally, while certain banks may mandate insurance to open an account, there are concerns regarding the reliability and handling of funds by banks in Thailand.

No, it was one of the biggest but what I learned in Thailand U can´t tell the truth without risking U get the police on your throut! No, Gates made the virus and he and his sick friends created the plandemic that closed Thailand for 2 years. Thats how long it took to loose a little bit more than 30 K in Baht! Not a fortune but it was NOT their money - it was mine!

The cheap insurance will be rubbish and they will desperately search for pre-existing conditions when you try to claim

Fair to say that if you make a claim all insurers require you to give them permission to access your medical records.

My visa agent told me that taking out Bangkok Bank’s Accident Insurance for 12 months was a condition for opening a bank account with them.

Not true, although there are bank employees that lead you on that direction for commission.

Just start acct paperwork, when insur is brought up, simply say no, to late for them to stop

here's a shocker for you. Visa Agents lie.

They tell you that helping you is their priority, it isn't, your money is.

Some people need their services, others choose to use them. They offer more than retirement extensions of course, some also being ‘fixers’ who can assist with more complex issues.

I've lived in Thailand for 23 years. It's funny how I've never once encountered a "complex issue" that I couldn't sort out myself. I often wonder at the sheer helplessness of some people. Is society really "dumbing down" this much?

You have been fortunate. No arrest warrants issued? Malicious accusations of narco-trafficking? Police posting notices upon your gate whilst you are out of the Country? Difficult to resolve issues you are unaware of especially when not in the Country. That is where fixers (troubleshooters) can be helpful.

I've been "fortunate"? Perhaps I just stay legal and behave myself. Sounds like you're some kind of a serial criminal! Now I can understand why you have to continually pay bribes. Not everyone in Thailand lives their lives like you do. In 23 years I've never even had a traffic fine! 🤣🤣🤣

Visa Agents are hardly the best source of information. They're probably also on a commission for every mug they sign up for insurance! 😆

It wasn’t optional. It was a requirement for the opening of a Bangkok Bank savings account, converting a visa exempt entry into a Non ‘O’ plus a twelve month’s retirement extension. I was previously advised that the policy for 3,000 baht was actually of value, especially to those without a healthcare plan or motor insurance as it provided cover for moto accidents. However, that only applied up to age 65.

You were conned by the agent and the person they were dealing with at the bank. It's all about fleecing you for money. It's how agents work. I've got four bank accounts, never once used an agent in 23 years, and never once was told I had to have insurance to open an account. It's a con, you fell for it, but don't worry about it

‘One-Off’ Accident Insurance is actually recommended by the experienced contributors to these pages where someone cannot obtain (or afford) Healthcare Coverage. Important to appreciate that a Healthcare Plan covers both accidents and illness, whereas Accident covers only that. Pleased that it worked for you (although best not to need it of course).
