Does having Canadian pension income qualify for the income threshold for a Retirement Extension in Thailand?

I am a Canadian and get 3 different pensions deposited in my Canadian Bank account. They total 65,000 baht. I don't have them deposited in Thailand though, and I have them taxed at source so I have no ugly surprise at tax time. In summary: 3 pensions gross 65,000, tax at source so maybe 40,000 baht net each month, deposited in Canada not Thailand. Would this qualify to meet the income threshold for a Retirement Extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat asks if their net pension income of around 40,000 baht per month qualifies to meet the income threshold for a Retirement Extension visa in Thailand. Responses suggest the need to provide an affidavit from the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok confirming the income, as deposits are made in Canada.

Consulate in CM has issued an affidavit each year for me and no issue with immigration . They have been great.

I'd say in general it's your net income that counts. All you can do is ask the Canadian embassy in Bangkok and see what they say.

IF you are going to use money banked in YOUR country to meet the proof of funds, the only way to do it as a Canuck is to get the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter from the Canadian Embassy here.

Contact them, it's all done by email now, no need to even GO to the consulate here in Bangkok.

Hi Mark I sent you some information but they deleted my response. They said you werenโ€™t interested in the 65k monthly method. You were going the 800 k in bank route.

That's the ONLY way you can do a year extension inside the country at the immigration office with funds in your country ๐Ÿ™‚
