Do I need an embassy letter to prove minimum income for the Thai Marriage Visa application if I have funds in a Thai bank account?

Hi. A quick question

My wife and I are going to Thai Immigration in Udon Thani tomorrow where I am applying for the 1 year Marriage Visa. I have all the documents in order and will stop off at the bank prior to going in to get the letter confirming 400,000 on deposit now for over a year. Reading thru the requirements, as I am retired, I wondering if I need a letter from Gov't of Canada saying I have a minimum of 40,000 Baht per month. I do not have such a letter. Your speedy response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a 1-year Marriage Visa in Thailand and is inquiring if a letter from the Government of Canada is necessary to prove a minimum monthly income. It is clarified in the comments that if the required funds are already deposited in a Thai bank account, the embassy letter is not needed as the bank statement suffices as proof of funds.

I trust that OP got the answer to his question of if he needs an embassy letter as proof of funds.

If you have your money in a Thai bank account, your embassy letter to confirm your funds will not be required. It's the proof of your funds, one or another.

You are not applying for a visa but an extension ofstay.

Thank you very much Ellie. I have a printout of requirements and I don't see the either or choice so that is great for me. Thank you!

I think the situation is you can't use monthly banked money if your embassy provides a letter but if you have the full amount in the bank for the required periods you're fine
