Hi Brandon, at the moment I am on a non o based on marriage and will be applying for my extension based on marriage, but maybe in the future I would like to change to an OA, is this then not possible to do in Thailand.

Hi Brandon, some where in some paperwork, the one way or return ticket must stipulate the ruling of a non o visa, we have friends who know people who work in the Thai embassy, if I can get a definitive answer I shall let you know.
