Please could someone advise how to apply for a new British passport, with out having to go to Bangkok as we live in Issarn. Also would you need to go to the immigration to transfere any valid extensions, from your old passport to your new one, and when would be the best time scale to apply for new passport, before your old one expires.

Many thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a new British passport while residing in Isaan can be done through various agents who handle the process without requiring a trip to Bangkok. It’s advisable to apply for the passport about 9 months before the current one expires, as the processing can take 3-11 weeks. Once the new passport is obtained, you will need to visit the Immigration office to transfer any valid visa extensions from the old passport to the new one. Several community members recommend various agents in the region, emphasizing that hiring an agent can be more cost-effective than traveling to Bangkok.

I know it does. But you told them to look on the US embassy page, that won't help them because it's a British passport.

If you can't go to Bangkok or Chiang Mai, your only option is to use an agent. See previous comments - there are many choices.

I would apply for a new passport 9 months before expiry. Allow 3-11 weeks.

Yes, you will need to go to Immigration to transfer your Extensions once you get the new passport.

Use an agent, many around that will do it, and you do not even have to leave your province. Will involve a wee journey to a post office to use the EMS system.

The cost of travelling and staying in Bangkok from Isaan a couple of times, usually works out more expensive than posting to an agent and their fees.

last time to renew my passport, nice easy smooth process and they even moved over my extension stamp to the new passport for me. An excellent service.

Shop around and get a few prices and check the reviews to settle on the one you want.

If you apply for an annual extension and your passport is not valid for a year, you will only receive an extension until the expiration date of your passport. That means you need to renew your passport a few months before you plan on getting an extension during the expiration year of your passport.
