If you only need 5 months a year you might only need 1 single entry tourist visa and one border bounce and extend

OR EASIER get a single entry tourist visa good for 3 months with an extension. or a METV for up to almost 9 months. or get a single entry visa for three months then border bounce for two more months with visa exemption with extension, or get another single entry at a thai embassy in lao/cambodia/malaysia

The answer is to do nothing other than have your onward flight proof. You will be granted 30 day visa exemptions both times.

You can only apply in the US at the correct agency depending upon location

unfortunately, that will be up to the immigration office or reviewing your application. From what I’ve heard if you do half of the year in Thailand and half of the year away, there’s never an issue.

it means if you’re getting them over and over you’re not there for tourism reasons and they want you to purchase the proper visa
