The following only works if you’re from the US. You can book a round trip flight, fully paid, and get a refund within 24 hours if the flight originates in the US.

Print your booking confirmation and use that for the visa application. Then cancel that booking, and re-book for 90 days.

I think it’s a misunderstanding of the meaning of the statement, “have a genuine reason to visit Thailand on a regular basis”.

This is a good and informative post. It would be great to hear about people’s experiences with what has worked for them when applying for the METV.

I’ll be applying soon using just the flight to/from Bangkok, with a written declaration about why I need to “visit Thailand on a regular basis” (two in/outs to Malaysia and Vietnam) and I will report back with my results. Thank you Tod Daniels. 👍
