Once you have a suitable Visa approved , Yes once you get here - if you have a Non-O or one of the retirement visas ( over 50 ) - a Thai bank account is one of the first things you need to turn your - Non-O Visa ( 90 days ) into a 12 month extension.

If you are keen to try on your own go to one of the banks , ask their for requirements and see how you go . After reading many posts everyday , It appears to be not that easy , You may need to use a Visa agent to help .

But Yes 100% you need a Thai bank acc . To fulfill the requirements of a 12 mth extension

I got a 6 month Multi Entry on March 31

In Aust ( I am Aust )

I had a flight booked which a copy is required

But I did not have nor show a return flight

( I am still in Thailand )

I’m here now on a

6 month Multi entry EVisa

After 60 days - go to the nearest immigration & fill in what is needed pay 1900 Baht

After 90 days , yes you need to leave Thailand & return

I did a border run from

Hua Hin - Ranong - Myanmar all done in one day - cost is 5300 baht and is about a 12 hour day

From Hua Hin go by mini van to

Ranong Pier immigration ( 5 hour each way )

Then by boat to - Myanmar ( Kawthoang ) 15 minute

Then back

Can only do in tour group
