I am applying for non-O type visa within Australia
I have emailed the embassy about a few questions
One thing that I’m scratching my head about ( maybe I’m losing my marbles )
If you are applying for a multi entry
90 day Non - O , then get the 12 months. In-O in Thailand , with the intention of staying in Thailand for length of time with no return planned to home country at this point …..
- why do you need to fill in a departure date
from Thailand ( a field on the online form which is marked as mandatory) ?????
I understand departure flight info from home country would be needed to kick start the 90 day
But a return date ?
Thanks everyone
Enjoy your evening

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about why a departure date is required on the Non-O visa application form, even though they are applying for a visa with no immediate plans to leave Thailand. Various comments clarify that the requirement may be standard practice despite not reflecting actual travel plans, and suggest filling in a departure date within 90 days of arrival.

Non O immigrant visa is excused onward ticket requirements and you normally don’t have to upload any flight tickets, but why it’s asked for in the electronic application I don’t know. Just filled in some dates my self, didn’t upload any tickets, and got my Non O within short time without any issues.

Well first of all, you are not applying for a multiple entry non-O visa, you are applying for a single entry non-O visa, that gives you permission to stay in Thailand for 90 days. The fact that you plan to apply for an extension is irrelevant. You are applying for a visa from the embassy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Extensions are through immigration which is a completely different government agency. The embassy doesn't care what you will be doing with them and doesn't even know what their rules and regulations are.
Just put a date within 90 days of your arrival, since that's all your visa allows for. Then once you are in Thailand you can apply for the extension as you planned.
