As Brandon said the Ed Visa is the best for your situation. Hassle free. If you get an agent you don't even have to show up usually. In most cases you have to get the initial visa from outside the country unless you're in Phuket. I think there may be one other location in Thailand where you can do it from inside the country but I don't remember where.

If you're planning on making the move it's best to know the language anyways.
