It's illegal because most of the AirB&b's are in big condo towers where people live permanently and they do not want hundreds of short term strangers going in and out every day. I think stays of more than 30 days are OK but it's a very 'grey' situation.

Get 60 days on arrival now depending on your passport. Extend for 30 days in country. No visa required at all.
