I have a major challenge with filing my TM30. I live in a condo that is in my ex-wife's name. We haven't talked for years and I will not get any help from her.

I know I can self file at ChaengW but I have no lease as I don't pay any rent. Private agreement with my ex!

How on earth can I file a TM30.?

Irish Passport, Bangkok, using Non Im B with annual extensions and a work permit, for the last 14 years.... thanks for any advice. Came back to BKK last Thursday thru Swampy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges filing a TM30 due to living in a condo under their ex-wife's name without a formal lease or assistance from her. They seek advice on how to proceed, considering they have been an expat in Thailand for 14 years with a valid visa and work permit.

I have gone into Korat on my own a few times and was not asked for proof of where I was staying.

Different offices, possibly even different officers, do seem to have different policies. IMHO it's that lack of central consistency that is so frustrating.

I never been to Isan, or much in that area. But I understand that different immigration offices have different policies when it comes to the lovely TM30

Isn't Korat Isan? Or is that something different?

I think you're just gonna hafta take what ever documentation you have and go out and TRY to self file a TM30 on your own. Take every scrap of stuff about the place with you.

There's a GOOD chance you're going to be outta luck and they won't let you file without her giving you power of attorney to file a TM30 for you on her behalf.

BUT

They could allow you to do it.

Be prepared though, Section B out at Chaengwattana is JAMMED with people from the second it opens until many many hours after the immigration office closes at 4:30.

Unless you get there really REALLY early, you're gonna be there for hours and hours. I'd still say wait to talk to the people in Section B (the TM30 section) NOT the people at the information desk. Those information desk people are NOT dialed into how it can be done when you don't tick all the boxes.

Good Luck

Not a big challenge at all:

Go to a stationary shop, buy a standard rental agreement and fill in and sign.

If your ex missus is letting you live there without a fuss, surely there must be some way she can be approached, as a woman who let's you do this doesnt sound like the unapproachable or vindictive type.

Nope, no lease agreement. Now I do live down in Chumphon and I’m sure you know quite how different Provence seems to do their own thing.

I've got no idea how the validity of her signature would be checked seeing as you are not needed to provide any other document with her signature on

Surely the landlady ie his ex wife (who doesn't talk to him) has to sign the lease agreement, therefore creating an issue?

Ahhhhh. And how do I sign it? I cannot put my signature. Think I need to go and buy a rental agreement and have a look at what it says.
