Thai Driver license question.

I have my US driver license and a international driver permit issued on Oct 15, 2023.

can i still use these to transfer/get a Thai Driver license without doing the full driver training as if i have never have a license before?

It may be obvious but just to be sure is an International Driving License required for the extension of an existing Thai 2 year drivers license?

Hi, I'm coming to Thailand in December and I want to do the course and get a Thai driver's licence for scooters in Chiang Mai.

Will I be able to get that document if I enter on visa exemption, or do I need a tourist visa for that?

I want to get the driver's licence for insurance purposes, so the document must hold up in case of being challenged by an insurance company.

Does anyone know what I need in terms of paperwork.

Do I need a thai license? I’ve read conflicting info.

I have a current bike license for all bikes.

Any tips on where I can get a good secondhand motorbike, in Bangkok area or near.

Simple question regarding driving licences

As a UK Citizen my UK driving licence expires somewhere around my 80th Birthday (it’s that far way I’ve never really considered it)

When I move to Thailand, I will initially have an International Driving Permit with a view to getting a Thai Licence (car not motorbike)

How long can I drive under my IDP and how long will ’my’ Thai Driving Licence be valid once I get it

On a side note, if anyone has any experience of obtaining a Thai Driving Licence or extending it, I would appreciate hearing your experiences

I have read on Tripadvisor driving in Thailand section that an International Driving Permit is not valid if you've got a Non Immigrant visa as it is only valid for tourist visas. I can't find other references to this. Has anyone got more information? Thanks!

Off topic , but hopefully somebody knows

I have a uk driving licence and a international driving licence ( has 2 years on it ) . Is that enough to be able to drive a motorcycle/ scooter in Thailand . I obtained this on the frequent possibility of being stopped a fined every 5 min in Pattaya , a helpful policeman told me this was sufficient. However I was then told , no he's wrong , you need a thai licence ( by an agent )surprisingly . Is he right ?
