I enjoyed my week in Kuala Lumpur. English is spoke amongst a large segment of the population if you want to carry on interesting conversations without wondering if someone actually understands what you’re saying.

Eligibility for a Thailand Retirement Visa O-A

You must fulfill one of the following financial requirements:

A security deposit of 800,000 Thai Baht in a bank account in Thailand for 2 months before the visa application

A monthly income of 65,000 Thai Baht

A combination of the security deposit and annual income of 800,000 Thai Baht

This last sentence doesn’t add up. I’ve never heard anything of an annual income of 800,000 Thai baht. Did somebody not proofread?

I had a friend come back to settle up. He died within a month of returning. I talked to a Thai woman, telling her the story. She said it’s not unusual. Before he died, he asked the little lady if she had ever loved him. At that point he should have kept his mouth shut before losing his last shred of dignity.

Maybe you would need the 800,000 Thai baht in the bank before you could do that, or 65,000 baht a month for a year previous to your living here?
