Good morning everyone. This is a follow up question to some of my previous correspondence.

I am travelling to Thailand at the end of April on a 60 day e-visa which I plan to extend by 30 days. In the mean time I will apply for a Non O visa based on marriage.

I understand that I will need to open a Thai Bank account in my name only and deposit 400,000 Thai Baht.

I've been reading advice on how to go about opening a new bank account in Thailand.

I note that it is suggested that I provide a letter from my bank in my home country requesting that the Bangkok Bank open a bank account for me.

However when I contacted my bank and requested that they provide me with a letter of request they informed me that they do not provide this service.

My question is such is :

In order to open a new bank account with the Bangkok Bank quickly and easily what should I do?

Thanks in advance.🙏

When putting 800000 bht into bank for retirement visa can anyone put it in from back home or does it have to come from your own bank account.

A history question if I may. How long has the 800,000 requirement for retirement visas been in effect. Has it always been that figure ? Or lower beforehand ?

What a substantial benefit for Thai banks to have that in their coffers and use in the international markets to shore up the Bhat. And how many retirees pass on, or leave LOS, and those funds are never withdrawn ?

I searched the group for previous posts about this subject but I couldn't seem to find the answer. I've had one Thai Bank account for in excess of 6 years. It's where I keep my 800K for my annual retirement extension of stay and deposit my monthly pension. I also have another Thai account (at a different bank) that I use for everything else (e.g. paying assorted bills, withdrawals, etc.) My question is, as a non-immigrant farang retired and living here full time, can I qualify a visa or mastercard credit card here? Have any of you farangs had any success in obtaining a credit card at a Thai bank?

Just wondering on putting 800k in a Thai bank? Have heard some mixed reviews on banking issues etc. just wondering on what the majority have done to get the retirement visa and their thoughts on the Thai banking system! My main concern is A: corruption within the bank system B: how safe my money will stay over the years? Thanks in advance!
