Every year there seems to be some new "issue" the crappy part is. We live in Isaan and our closest IO is 1.5 hours away. So when they reject something for whatever reason. Restarting the paperwork is another trip down to korat city. I despise the fact on a marriage visa it's a mountain of paperwork and problems every year.

Hey garrett is a nice guy!

Never heard of home visits for retirement. Only marriage. But ya. For marriage visa. Every year.

Its not as easy as just running on down and getting a visa. The marriage visa I think is the most complicated and time consuming visa. There's the financial requirements prior to getting the visa. All the paperwork from the amphur etc. The non o, then the actual visa. House visits, witnesses etc etc

ya. Married for more than a year. Have land and a business together, had been to Japan that year as well. But ya I'm in the same boat. We live here and I never intend on going back and it was a short notice kind of thing. So any of the long term visas had like a year plus wait for an appointment.

Yep. The part that pissed me off though. We spent so much money to drive all the way to bangkok, get a hotel, pay the fee for the "appointment" gathered TONS of paperwork. The agent was extremely rude to my wife, didnt look at a single piece of paperwork and had about 2 minutes for the "appointment" Gave no reason for the denial. For a country that makes you pay over seas taxes to the country... the services we get are pretty crap

Curious how this goes. I'm an American married to a thai. And ive been told the visa situation is rough right now. I tried to get her a visitor visa a while ago for my brothers wedding and was immediately denied.

yes you are correct that it's not legally in writing. But there's a thing called generosity. And people who abuse generosity are the ones crying when it's taken away. That's what INTENDED use is for.
