I’m applying for my Non-O tomorrow. My gf is saying if I leave Thailand more than once in the year there is an added charge to the visa. Is this so? How much would the charge cost?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Non-O visa in Thailand, if you leave the country, you will need a re-entry permit to maintain your visa status. The costs for these permits are 1,000 Baht for a single re-entry or 3,800 Baht for a multiple re-entry, which allows for unlimited exits and entries until the original visa's expiration date. It's essential to have the appropriate permit to avoid losing your visa and having to reapply.

I wonder, what is the sense of a Re-entry permit? Why does that even exist? As it's granted anyway in 100% of the cases?

Couldn't they just issue just multiple entry visas?

They do issue multiple entry visas, however some only allow you to stay in Country for 90 days at a time, hence extentions of stay and re-entry permits.

of course. But what's the sense of giving singe entry visas and then selling re-entry permits later. Is it really just making money? I don't get the sense behind that scheme.

TIT lots dont make sense why do you need to do 90 day reporting and a TM30 and you could do extension of stay one week where you report adress etc etc and then the next week could be 90 days since you been in country. System needs a major overhaul but they just keep adding to it.

The “cost” of not getting the Re-entry Permit requirement right is that you lose your visa and have to start over if you ever leave the country without getting one. Here’s a brief article on some hard won wisdom:

There's a lot more charges than the 1000 baht reentry. My suggestion is don't go anywhere.

You gotta try getting some COVID insurance that doesn't cover COVID to get back in.

You need a re-entry permit to keep your visa/extention of stay alive if you leave the country. Single re-entry 1000bt, multiple re-entry 3800bt.

Good grief. A thread where everyone says the same thing. Must be a first.

Get a multi entry if you are leaving often about 3000 baht. If you leave less than 3 times then get a re entry permit each time cost 1000 baht. You can get re entry permit at airport before you leave.

To keep your “admitted until” date alive you buy a reentry permit. Cost is 1,000 baht for a single entry or 3,800 baht for a multiple one. With the latter you can come and go as many times as you like and each time you enter you will be stamped in until the original date of your extension.

2 possibility :

1 re-entry = 1000 Bahts.

Multi re-entry = 3800 bahts
