What do I need to know about entering Thailand for a non-O retirement visa in November?

Am I missing something about staying in Thailand? There are the sandbox trips, but it sounds like you can still come in on regular visa or visa exempt status? I want to come back with the intention of getting a non-o retirement visa—if there are any flights available beginning in November from Europe.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the process for entering Thailand, focusing on the Sandbox Program and visa requirements. Users clarify that the Sandbox is open to all travelers with valid visas from approved countries, and there's no restriction based on the UK's red list for entry into Thailand. It's recommended to complete the Certificate of Entry for travel and consider applying for a non-O retirement visa before arrival, which can often be done online through Thai embassies. Current travel conditions suggest potential quarantine requirements and the necessity of being vaccinated for Sandbox entry. As travel restrictions may evolve, individuals are encouraged to stay updated on requirements closer to their intended travel date.

As November is a few months from now check back then with the requirements to obtain the CoE to enter Thailand.

Until then follow one of the stranded expat forums for latest info...

Look into getting the non o retirement visa before you come. It’s relatively easy to apply at the Thai embassy online in your home country. Mine was processed in London in 2 days.

, if it can be done online, I can do it from Albania using my legal US address and have a friend mail it to me in Albania. Would be cheaper than a side trip to a nearby country, esp with all the travel hassles. Thaaanks.

There is nothing stopping you going to Thailand. Complete the certificate of entry and everything that goes with it and you’re on your way.

You can apply for the non o visa when you’re there as long as you fulfill all that is required

BEFORE anyone mentions the red list that exist for the UK, that list is ONLY for entering the UK. It has NOTHING to do with Thailand, and any discussion of UK's red list will be deleted (because it has nothing to do with Thai Visa).

The sandbox is visa agnostic. As long as you hold a valid visa, and you're from an approved country, you can enter the Sandbox.
