Has anyone had success adding dependents for a non-immigrant-O visa in the last few months?

Does Thailand have a residency requirement on her visas?
I know that long term visas from some countries have a residency requirement per year. I have not found any information about this in Thailand. The only thing that is remotely close is the need to file tax if you stay in Thailand for more than 180 days in a year, just wondering.

Hi, I’m Iranian. I came to Bangkok one month ago on a tourist visa to look for a way to get a longer-term visa.
Someone suggested the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) to me.
I know I have to leave Thailand to apply, but as an Iranian, which country should I go to — Laos, Vietnam, China, or somewhere else?
How long does the whole process take?
While the application is being processed, can I return to Iran, or do I have to stay in the country where I submit the application?
Also, is a personal interview required, or can everything be done online?
How much does the visa process cost in total?
And finally — is Bangkok a good place to live for now, considering that I don’t have a job yet and I just want to apply for a visa so I can later find work there?
Thai cooking schools normally offer 6 to 12-month courses. On their pages, they always recommend 12-month courses for higher credibility in visa application.
Shall I opt for 6 or 12 months? With 6 months I could fail the visa application?
I'm looking into some options for long term Thai visas, anyone out there who's knowledgeable and willing to share some advice? Are there any good, reputable agencies who can offer assistance?
