DTV holders are long stay tourists that’s all. They’ll still have to pay tax in their country and Thailand, and don’t get any rights in the country at all.

they do, but it doesn’t help as much as people think unfortunately. According to an economist I spoke with.

But I think there’s the social and community issue that is more against it. I know of some gov officials are too!

sure, it’s not difficult to understand why many of the community don’t want Thailand to be overflowed with DTV holders raising costs. Maybe you’re too triggered to understand. Why are you in Thailand? Spreading hate? Time to go home I think 💀

yes it’s true, but they spend a limited time here. DTV’s will saturate Thailand year round, look at Phangan and how that has been destroyed in recent years.

Tourists are fine, but too many westerners threaten to ruin or de fabric what Thailand is

typically closed minded response. But expect nothing less

they are and this year will be 36 million next year will break 2019’s record of 39 million.

The DTV though is concerning among expats (as well as government officials) as its way too easy to get, and likely allows some to fall through the net.

Thailand has always been difficult to get a long term visa or similar, and rightly so. They basically introduced it to boost the economy which sucks right now

haha true but at least they’ve been here before Thailand became a trend

What a weird take. That sounds like you’ve just visited Thailand once.

Too many “expats” - although DTV visa holders are essentially glorified tourists, puts rent up, increases costs, and makes Thais (even more) fed up of hordes of foreigners year round.

People who live here, Thais and expats, enjoy low season because of fewer tourists.

With too many foreigners coming in on this easy visa, there are concerns from expat communities. Not to mention so many foreigners coming into Thailand and not integrating, not living per Thai rules, and treating the country as if it’s their own.

Are you even in Thailand?

It needs to be strict to prevent anyone just applying. Otherwise it’s going to saturate the expat scene
