TLDR : Answer Summary
A community member shared their experience of being approved for the DTV (workcation) visa in under 24 hours, expressing thanks to fellow expats for support. Others shared their own experiences, with some approval times taking longer, such as 48 days. Several commenters discussed the visa application process, including tips on documentation and discrepancies in experiences based on location, like Los Angeles and London. The conversation also touched upon whether one can apply for the visa while in Thailand and noted the need for careful preparation regarding airline and immigration requirements.
no we had ours in for 4 weeks before application, no issues entering the country either and wasnβt asked for a return ticket either. (Some people of certain nationalities have been asked for return tickets and some have even had to purchase one on their phone before entry allowed).

Another anonymous account π€ this goes to show exactly why the Thai government is cautious about who is applying for the DTV.
Have these people got something to hide? Itβs astonishing how many new βexpatsβ are coming to Thailand and yet they donβt dare reveal their name.
well if theyβre smart enough to figure out how to jump through all the hoops to get a DTV visa by the book or notβ¦ they are probably smart enough to pay rent and their bills while in Thailand and be reasonably well behaved

Thank You for your helpful report π
Congratulations πππ the Thai Consulate Staff in Los Angeles are wonderful π
PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight βοΈ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
yes you must apply outside of Thailand and you can apply in any country that allows you to apply so check the website of the embassy you wish to use to make sure that you have eligible residency. Again an ambiguous answer, why dont you say exactly what country you want to apply in, and exactly what passport you hold?
it's Europe πππ. We see that reply and wonder why they don't π ID the country when posting. As we both know, it's an important question which needs to be answered in order for us to reply meaningfully.
Totally worth it, I got $47,000 and a plan and endless spirit of adventure and motivation to start a new life in Thailand and I am pumped up. Last thing to do is sell my car and then Im immediately hopping on a plane and finding a home.
