Don’t worry too much! I learned it the hard way when private hospital Bangkok hospital took me to Police station with 3 insurance policies n one of them with direct billing agreement. For newcomers they only want the sheiks etc. In that league who do not need insurance. Government hospitals r inexpensive n lots of private specialists clinics charging around 1,000 baht per visit. If you cannot purchase insurance just start learning government hospital system n have a Thai to come with you at the beginning n you will be fine.

Philippines seeing Thaïland ‘s success with DTV visa has introduced their own DTV visa for one year. You r paid by another country n bring your money to spend here pretty neat! If you r over 50 Cambodia has a cheap retirement visa as well. Lots of options around here. It pays to shop around where u want to spend your moolah.

dental soft power. I live a frugal but comfortable Life n prefer to spend my money travelling affordably within Asia. You need at least $1,000 to $1,500 CAD to live in Hua Hin per month comfortably without extravagance. I don’t need alcohol coffee dope sex n smoke. Once a week I treat myself to high tea or brunch or some nice treat from $20-$100 CAD that would be more or not Available in Canada.
