TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that doing a visa run to Cambodia is not advisable at this time. Many comments express concerns about closed land borders, potential issues re-entering Thailand, and overall safety due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. Several users recommend alternatives like flying to Vietnam or Laos, rather than attempting to cross into Cambodia, which is reported to be a dangerous area.

I wouldn't use the term 'visa run'

I am just back from 3 week holiday in Vietnam, I always have a printed holiday itinerary with me. The immigration officer was pleased when I offered it to him to check. Confirming 3 cities visited in Vietnam, my accommodation locations and my home flight return date

Fly to Singapore by Scoot first thing in the morning, spend the day at jewel mall inside Changi airport and come back late evening. You can leave your backpack at one of the counters on every floor of the mall. The metro comes right inside the airport and you can buy a card for S$5 and add S$10 and travel outside the airport into the city for the day and come back.

Visa Run is a thing of the past! Y’day Thailand has elected a new government ! One of their priorities will be to block all movement towards Cambodia, and... there's a kind Berlin Wall project in the works! It's official and not a hoax!

Dan Brown Looks like Anutin Charnviraku will be back as PM following the elections so can only see a toughening in Immigration rules rather than a relaxation.

I expect you are so out of touch with what's happening in Thailand and with "visa runs" you should probably just return to your home country now before you get deported 😎

The only country that it is recommended NOT to arrive from 🙏🏼

Even Fast Track is more expensive when arriving from Cambodia.

It depends on how much time and money you want to spend. Try flying to Penang, street food heaven and affordable, avoid Cambodia.

Somebody said there was a war on…. In any event, I did it once and it was a hideous long experience that I would never do again. Jump on an airplane and have a day or two somewhere else rather than just sitting in a mini bus for a whole day.

just know that pretty much all land borders with Laos no longer allow you to leave Thailand and return the same day. They require you to spend 1-2 nights in Laos.

Also if you enter Thailand by land with visa exempt, you are not permitted to get any tourist extension.

You’re going to encounter problems reentering Thailand from Laos. Heard the border is closed for border crossings for visa runs. Check with immigration first , up to you.

No , wrong choice !!!

If you paid a visit, you would definitely love Cambodia and might choose to live in Cambodia.

visa in Cambodia is pretty easy and cheap and if you wanna live, it is easy to prolong your visa

Toto Cam I do not think he wants to apply for a visa in Cambodia. He means he wants to do a border-run. He obviously does not know the difference between a visa-run and a border-run

I thought that visa run was a no no, after the new immigration rules.

This year I arrived with a multi entry visa and they complained about my last year use of visa run.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I encountered a problem with immigration , when I entered Thailand in October , last year. Immigration officer said I’d need a proper visa next trip. My plan was to get the METV. I don’t really want the DTV. Expensive and I don’t want to take courses that I’ll never have use for.

Alex Victor I always have 90 days visa when I come to Thailand but I and my thai wife stay for 4-5 months every year and I have had no problems to do this once every year.

Stefnir Þorfinnsson then why do you not just apply on Immigration, before your 90-days stay permit expires, for a 1900 THB fee to the "60-days extension based on family visit"? You do not need a border-run. Just stay in Thailand and apply. You only have to prove on Immigration that your marriage is still active showing a freshly printed Kor Ror 22 or 2 (whichever applies) from your Amphur

He’s asking about a border run. It’s a very bad idea to go to Cambodia and then try to enter Thailand. There’s a “conflict”between the two countries. Many people have been denied entry. Mercenaries , scammers and those involved with human trafficking.
