the official website says nothing about a TM-30

Documents to be submitted

1. Application form TM.7 (application must be made in person)

2. Copy of applicant’s passport

3. Photo 4 x 6 cm. (not older than 6 months)

4. Application fee 1,900 Baht.

In Bangkok you can go directly to the immigration office and get the 30 day extension for 1,900THB….this is contingent on when your plane arrives and you will make there during their normal work hours of M-F minus Holidays….

in all the years I have come to Thailand they have never asked me the purpose of my visit…never ever once

30 days on a visa exemption stamp then you can extend it for 30 days at your local immigration office for ฿1,900 giving you 60 days in country

then definitely go the 6 month METV which you can get 9 months out if it with strategic Border bounces…make sure you get registered wherever you’re staying get the Pink ID Card and yellow house book this will help in opening a bank acct, drivers license etc
