TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion focuses on the current requirements for travelers entering Thailand, particularly concerning quarantine rules and the necessity of booking SHA+ hotels for one night after arrival. Participants share various experiences and queries about staying in Thailand, the process of booking necessary accommodations, and the implications of COVID-related restrictions, such as the necessity of PCR testing upon arrival and exemptions based on vaccination status.

Come here, we still have a lot of space at the covid field hospital.24hours starlight and Mamanoodles whenever you re hungry.
Jan *********
What if you (false) test positive???

🤔🤔🤔
Abel *********
@Jan ********
With RT-PCR (unlike with antigen tests) the risk for a false positive is slim to none. That is why it is considered the gold-standard of testing. False negatives can rarely occur, but that would not cause you immediate issues, would it?
Jan *********
@Abel ********
I was referring sarcastically to the rampant corruption. A positive test is very prosperous for the overly expensive hotels and overly expensive tests...

Also not in sight.... What if 1 test positive...among the 360 passengers of the same plane....all 14 days in hotel prison,...very lucrative.....

Not forget the tracing app following you every step....which will not be to any bar or other fun because they're all closed..... 😂
Mikael *********
So all SHA+ hotel bookings will include the covid-19 test fee?
Mikael *********
Probably just have to take another test then
Jan *********
Imagine you (false) test positive.... Guaranteed fun 😉
Mikael *********
I guess the thailand Pass application will be where all these requirements will be validated, so we will have to wait and see

@Mikael ********
yes maybe who knows your guess is as good as mine…TiT is all I’ll say
Jeremy ********

@Mikael ********
it would make sense but who knows each venue might have their own way of charging you…read the fine print
Jyrki *********
Nothing said about those who have recovered from COVID-19..?
Jeremy ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Jyrki ********
they don’t care
Chan *************
for medical insurance, must it be a local thai insurance ?
Chan *************
by the way, do i need to have a return flight ticket when arriving ? i plan to extend my stay.
Jeremy ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Chan ************
no it can be any medical insurance….travelers insurance (read the fine print) company insurance etc
Abel *********
All good in theory. But now: In absence of the new Thai Pass, what option do I chose in the old COE form (
*******************************
if I want to make use of this new one night only entry? Currently, there are only two options Sandbox (either Phuket or Samui) or ASQ. Also, where to book Sha Plus hotels with transfer in Bangkok. Many things still unsolved for practical use it seems.

@Abel ********
they should move everyone over to the new program come 1 Nov, but since TiT I see them using 2 systems simultaneously and creating all sorts of issues due to the date you submitted your paperwork…the sudden changes in thai immigration confuse everyone
Abel *********
@Jeremy *******
Even IF the new Thailand Pass would be ready by November 1st (and I doubt it), that would not help those due to arrive in the first week of November. Since the the old COE form does not cater for the new entry requirements, factually, there currently is no way for people coming to Thailand under the new November regulations. Right?
Jeremy ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Abel ********
correct as of right now no it’s still the old COE system and all that applies to it…1 Nov starts the new…nobody knows what will happen on 1 Nov to those in quarantine will they be let go? Remain in place? Welcome to Thailand
Abel *********
@Jeremy *******
Already rebooked my flight, leaving November 7 instead of November 3 now. Knowing Thai speed, probably a wise precaution. 😉

@Abel ********
yes, unless the embassy you go through has no idea about the thai pass even though it’s in the Royal gazette…TiT but by delaying it will help you out without to do a 14 day quarantine if you come from one of the 46 approved countries
Abel *********
@Jeremy *******
Last time, I had to provide my nearest consulate with Royal Gazette texts. Sais it all, I guess. Oh well - it is going to be worth it again, I am sure. A least, this year things are much easer already then when I came last year.

@Abel ********

@Jeremy *******
Yes. About time. Winter is coming 😃 Have a good trip yourself, too.

Can anyone answer If the COE is still required if you meet all the vaccine requirements and all the new requirements posted?
Declan ***********

I'm fully vaccinated so can I fly from the UK, get a connecting flight in BKK onto Phuket before I do my required x1 night before going to a non SHA+ Hotel?
Frédéric ******************
@Matthew ********
No, you must book a room and wait for the PCR result at the place where you land.
Jan *********
What are the eligible countries?
Frédéric ******************
Jared **********
Are you sure this is right? I saw something last night that was saying 72 hours for the test AND results from ARRIVAL...I’m sure it will be spelled out better in the next day or two but good to keep an eye on that

Also hilarious how apparently 1 day quarantine = no quarantine
Frédéric ******************
@Jared *********
It's not 1 day, it's until the reception of the test result.
Frédéric ******************
You pay one night accomodation, but you are free to leave as soon as you get your negative test result.
Jared **********
@Frédéric ****************
it says right on there you have to spend the night, get the point 🤦‍♂️
Frédéric ******************
@Jared *********
my eyes are probably better than yours.
Ադամ ********
@Frédéric ****************
So what does “wait at the hotel mean”? In my case at Sandbox, drinks by the pool first night. I was never told I had to check in with the front desk everyday. After about a week I figured it out they told me “we do it for all guests”. Much less structure than ASQ.
Frédéric ******************
@Adam *******
Drinks by the pool before getting the test result? Thanks your hotel for daring to break the law then.
Jared **********
@Frédéric ****************
fly in, go through the arrival process, go to your hotel, get tested, the test goes to the lab, and you wait for the results

I’m sure you won’t be spending the night 🙃

Also you’re eyes aren’t better just your optimism
Frédéric ******************
@Jared *********
and you're tested at the airport during the arrival process, not at the hotel.
Jared **********
@Frédéric ****************
for someone claiming to be good at reading you cant read that for the sandbox programme (phuket) is different from the exemption from quarantine and requires you to spend 7 days in the sandbox?

Also from what I’ve read they will not and fo not want to do the PCR tests at the airport but after the people are taken to testing hubs or there hotel, but I’m waiting for them to post the rest of the specifics to know for certain
Frédéric ******************
@Jared *********
in Phuket sandbox, they get the results within 3 to 5 hours.
Ronan *******

Salvador *******************
Hello guys, I have a flight from Miami for November 29 and I arrive in bkk on December 1 ... so can I go in the apartment that I always rent?
Michael ********
@Salvador ******************
No as it says you need book a SHA plus or AQ hotel for one night whilst waiting for results from test at airport
Salvador *******************
@Michael *******
How do I make this reservation?
Michael ********
@Salvador ******************
Agoda has them listed
Ronald *********
I want to go to Nakhonrachasima Korat to family house, after hotel stay.

It s not on the list.
Ronald *********
Not everybody are tourists.
Ash ********
what happens if you have a stop over on your flight?
Justin *****
I would assume that “exemption from quarantine for eligible countries” also applies to going to Koh Samui?
Carsten ************
@Justin ****
after 1st day and negate test result you may go there.
Maya *******
If only 1 night that is OK
Paul *****************
@Maya ******
in 4 week covid up up and lock down is comming soon again
Maya *******
@Paul ****************
great let's lock down forever
Mike *******
@Maya ******
you'll be lucky of it's one night. It's Thailand #1 and #2 it all depends on when you land in Thailand. I would book 2 nights to be safe
Maya *******
@Mike ******
im not going to Thailand till after November

Probably

By then hopefully uts even more simple
Mike *******
@Maya ******
This is Thailand we are talking about. It will remain 1 day for a long time.
Maya *******
@Mike ******
i can live with 1 day its nothing
Marco ********
@Maya ******

Maya *******
