I have a situation where my Ed Visa was canceled so I had to convert last week to the covid-19 extension. Other than signing up for Muay Thai classes to get another EV Visa what can I do?

prepare for the worst I guess and hope for the best…

I am sure it will only apply to visas like the Non O which is extendable inside the country and not those that can't like the PE visa. The point of continuing these Covid extension wasn't just due to an unable to fly but for those that have visas that are not transferrable inside the country which require you to leave and come back.

@Mika *******
they drop you like a stone when you are no longer a member. Yep not so elite.
Mika ********
@Bim ******
do they ?? I not surprised if so
Mika ********
@Bim ******
But the PE visa is ultimately a tourist visa So will still be eligible for the Covid extension if so required ??? ( even under the new restrictions )
Bim *******
@Mika *******
yes a very expensive tourist visa haha. My immigration office have known me over 10 years and always go out their way to help. I still see some of the same people from way back. Thank you for your comment
Mika ********
@Bim ******
100k a year to stay hassle free in the country if your 50 is not that expensive in the scheme of things 😊

But it's not justifiable ( to me anyway ) once you can utilize the retirement option
Bim *******
@Mika *******
for sure. It's been very useful. I under 50 at the time so had little option. It's been a godsend.
Mika ********
@Bim ******
Same here - but mines finishing soon and it's a bit of a hassle having to leave and return before I can apply for the non O retirement - (we are not as "elite" as the marketing might suggest 555)

I entered on a visa exemption initially, but then switched this (from within Thailand for a fee) to an ED. After my ED ended, I canceled it and applied for COVID extensions.

In my case, so you believe my current COVID extensions are from my ED visa, or the visa exemption on which I initially entered the country?

Thank you.

@Klint *****
I am in the same situation and I was at immigration today. Unfortunately no more extensions available.
Klint ******
@Alexander **********
Thanks for the info. Did you try to extend and they gave you 7-days? Or did you just ask for info?
Alexander ***********
@Klint *****
I simply enquired with them before getting any stamp. Better to exit on your without the stamp if your looking to re-enter.
Klint ******
@Alexander **********
got it. I think I this this will be a good opportunity to leave the kingdom for awhile. Thanks again
Peter *******
@Klint *****
I was just told on Thai Visa Advice Facebook page that it is taken on your last visa

So if your last visa was an ED Visa unfortunately we cannot get another covid extension

If you try you’ll get a 7 day stamp to leave the country

It’s advised to not to get the stamp and explore other avenues to stay if possible before you do that
Klint ******
@Peter ******
Got it thanks. If you happen to hear anything else on this issue, would you mind posting here. I’ll do the same.
Peter *******
@Klint *****
thanks mate I will and would appreciate it the same. It’s doesn’t make sense but hey ho

Can you go back to ED visa?

I entered from Cambodia border in January 2020 with 30 days(I think visa exempt because I'm from Italy) , after that got 30 days extension and amnesty. After amnesty I got 3 months medical visa from agency because the only option for no go out(my embassy not give letter).After that I got many consecutive covid extensions because no more need letter. Now with new rules can I get covid extension?

you sure about that.

I'm not at all clues up on types of visas.

I arrived on a 60 day tourist visa on July, I extended for 30 days and have since received covid extensions.

Am I still eligible to extend in March?
Steve *******
@Cassius *********
yes, you're on a tourist visa. This new Rule applies to Non-Immigrant visas.

But make sure to follow the news as things can change drastically and rapidly around here, which could mean you need to find another solution in March.
Nicolas ********
@Steve ******
hello , I came visa exempt in September, can I apply for the COVID extension? Thank you
Stuart **********
@Nicolas *******
How have you stayed from September to now?
Nicolas ********

a tourist is a non immigrant though. 🧐
Steve *******
@Jon ********
a tourist visa is not a non-immigrant visa. Those are used for long term stays.

Klaus *********
@Diezzy *****
I am not a Thai Visa expert..... explain to me why a husband of a Thai national who wants to stay longtime in Thailand has to use COVID extensions to do so?

There must be another type of Visa för that purpose?!
Diezzy ******
@Klaus ********
i just stay 6 month here we live in france i have now 3 month visa O i just need 3 month more
Steve **********
@Kl***
because they don’t want to do it right and put money in the bank.
Ruan *****************
@Steve *********
100% but did you know that should a falang woman marry a Thai man. That she does not need any financial statements. The visa is just given based on marriage certificate. Not fair hey ???
Steve **********
@Ruan ****************
I did not know that. That’s some serious double standard bullshit.
Diezzy ******
@Steve *********
it would be nice if some foreigners regained some self-esteem for their country and stopped thinking they were thai more than the thais themselves and put themselves in fervent defender of these unjust laws.. criticism does nothing wrong. .thank god my wife was able to see what a fair country is with foreigners even if we have other problems to settle in europe .. no problem I leave you with your prejudices. we will find a solution. take care of you. Sorry for my broken english
Steve **********
@Die***
calm down bro. I didn’t say it was fair or not. That’s not my problem. They make the laws and we have to follow them. Believe me I know all about how it works. My wife is a US citizen. Don’t lecture me on immigration.

You think I am happy to put a large sun of money in a Thai bank? Of course not but that’s the rule, so it’s done. And I don’t bitch about it because that is wasted energy. Kind of like sending 5-6 text replies to my absolutely correct comment. 😂
Diezzy ******
@Steve *********
you told the truth I have to focus my energy on a correct solution to our situation and not let myself get carried away by emotions and negative waves
Diezzy ******
@Steve *********
