TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation provides valuable insights into corrections needed for a Thailand visa article, particularly about the NON-O marriage visa, stating that one does not need to apply at their home country and can extend up to 45 days before expiry. Additionally, clarification is requested regarding the re-entry permit for the METV visa, noting that it should explicitly mention that a permit is not required during the validity period. Various comments suggest that the article has multiple inaccuracies which are being addressed collaboratively.

I think the non immigrant o marriage extension needs to be corrected. I obtained a single entry non o from Vientiane not my home country, you do not have to travel home to get it. You can also apply for the extension up to 45 days before the expiry of the non O marriage visa. Though your assessment won't commence till the 30 day window (usually 2 week so).

Also most immigration officers want to see you have the 400k in your account for longer then 2 (usually 3-4 months) and use the money or add onto it.

, Thankfully that TM.30 stuff is still pretty localized and NOT implemented in bangkok yet ;)

Also, anyone coming in on a non immigrant o marriage visa and you are not staying in a hotel, you need to complete a tm30 within the 24 hour window or the following business day (if a weekend). Please remember that all northern immigration offices (Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrea, Lampung and other provinces I've missed in the north) report to Chiang Mai immigration and what Chiang Mai says is the rule of law.

I wouldn't stand for ANY immigration officer telling me they want to see the money seasoned for a second longer than it's posted in their regulations :O

but that's just how I am ;)

UPDATE; I just had a 2+ hour meeting with the guy who wrote that. We went over it pretty intensively to correct errant information. He's gonna send me a copy of the revisions before he makes the changes on the page.

in the mean time, please feel free to point out errors in case I missed them ;)

I will say, he spent quite a bit of time compiling that and I give him a (y) and an A for effort :)

Their O-A advice is wrong. Bank funds are in home country bank. The income letter doesn't require an affidavit. Also METV need a reentry permit during the final extension. I didn't read the whole thing. There may be more errors.

. I know what you mean but the situation that you're refering to would only happen once the visa has expired.

Technically they are incorrect because it doesn't mention during the validity period. It gives a blanket statement that there is no need for a re-entry permit when one may be required during the final stay previously mentioned in the article. Anyway I just think it needs clarification. But up to you.

They explicitly state: "There’s no need to get a re-entry permit for an METV." This needs clarification don't you think?

Only need a re-entry permit if you plan on leaving and coming back during that final extension.

thanx (y) already sorted that out. People from 44 countries get TWO 30 day exempt entries in a calendar year by a land border.

"ENTERING" not exiting

On December 31, 2016, Thai Immigration imposed a rule change for all countries: exiting by land border, previously granting the foreigner 15 days, has been increased to 30 days, but can only be done twice per calendar year, meaning January 1 – December 31. Countries with a bilateral agreement with Thailand, including Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Russia, and Vietnam are excluded from this new rule.
