if you are stopped for a licence check with only a foriegn licence you will probably be fined if you have no IDL. It was quite common in my area so I always recommend friends get one if they might drive. They're fairly cheap so better safe than sorry

I would get an IDL at least for yourself as you will be starting again where as your wife will probably be able to renew hers as the offices have just reopened after covid closure.

I made a new licence a couple of weeks ago & instead of watching the Thai video was required to do training & questions on DLT E LEARNING web site & show the pass certificate along with the med cert etc so I would suggest you do this before you go.

If using the trailing spouse method you will need to have your marriage certificate legalised for use un Thailand & official Thai translation.

Same wirh uk banks, wise wins to transfer smaller amounts but uk banks charge a flat fee so they win for large amounts

Don't forget PCR tests for flights & any requirements on your return home

where is this policy from, do you have any more details?

When we got our med cert for OA 2 years ago there was a link for a form to print & get signed on the embassy web site along with a link for the police check.

Our gp wasn't keen to sign it as mostly in Thai & he said there was no check in UK for elephanitus so he wrote a letter saying that we showed no signs of the listed diseases (covering his ass) which was accepted by the embassy.

Try big cat insurance they will cover already traveling
