In my local supermarket, I come across a large stock of "Shao Xing" chinese wine. It must be used frequently by people in Thailand (even in the countryside where I am). My guess is is there is some culinary application for it and it's not used as a beverage for the most part... Does anyone know what Thai dishes (or Thai chinese dishes) it is used it in? I know it is a very essential park of Chinese cuisine, but there must be some frequent application in Thai cuisine if it's heavily stocked at local grocery stores...I know it's random, but TIA if anyone can shed any light on the topic.

So, I’m 43, and grew up on a big farm in northern Iowa, USA. We do for ourselves. It’s expected, it’s ingrained from a very early age, and even today is a cultural norm in the rural Midwest. I have never paid anyone to do what I can do myself, ie. - mow my own yard, do my own laundry, clean my own house, cook my own food (part of which I grew/raised myself). When looking at properties to rent in Thailand I was so confused at first about the lack of a kitchen and laundry room in most places until Iearned that many Thais (in urban areas) eat out, and use laundry services. I can’t kick how odd this feels for me🫤(I understand this is cultural and from my background). Why pay for services I can do for myself?? But then?… Does it cost significantly more, enough so, to rent a place with a kitchen and at least a washer, that it negates saving money by doing these things myself? And even then does the weird “I’m being lazy” feeling ever go away?

* I DO NOT THINK THAI PEOPLE ARE LAZY! I understand it’s a cultural difference, and that it’s different between rural and urban areas in Thailand.

Has anyone else noticed how in the last few years there have been a dozen or so companies that make single serving cups of ice cream? Good quality too..It seems everytime I turn around, I see a new company doing this…some examples include ete, iscoop among others. Many restaurants seem to have their own brand often as well. Almost like there is a big company that makes these ice creams and private labels for different establishments.

Hi Thailand!

I have just come to Bkk to work for a company. I intend to live here for long time.

I’m looking for a tour guide and translator freelance

Because I have to meet my customers 5-6 times per month. After that we can go around and explore BKK together

And I love to eat Thai food as well. Goong Ten as an example ^^

Please inbox me if you want to have a Vietnamese friend like partners

Are there any street food streets off Thonglor area? I'm talking the street full of vendors not just one offs randomly every few blocks on the sidewalk.

Looking to relocate to Thonglor 25, and driving up on Thonglor from Sukhumvit didn't see anything obvious.
