sorry to bother you again, but have to ask one more question. If you book an appointment to apply for your extension. What sort of time frame in advance are we talking about. Can we get an appointment fairly quickly, or is there a long waiting list. Bearing in mind we have to arrange confirmation from the Bank letters which can not be older than one week etc.
I too do the renewal of my retirement extension each year at the Bangkok CW immigration, aided by my long term Thai partner. This is one of the busiest, if not the busiest in the country. It’s the one day each year, which despite my partners invaluable assistance, I find frustrating, annoying at times and a pain in the butt to put it mildly. As I said it’s only one day per year, and this is what I keep telling myself as that time of the year approaches. Despite the one stressful day involved, there is no way I would ever part company with my passport to anyone, let alone any of the companies claiming 100% success. My passport is worth a lot more to me than spending just one stressful day each year at immigration.
I think the best advice when trying to open a Thai bank account with any bank, is to take a Thai speaking friend with you. I had no trouble at all opening an account by just letting my Thai partner do all the talking.
I always do that Tod. Does immigration have any leeway if say one month isn’t marked as an international transfer. Or would they just refuse your extension.
thsnks Tod, I had in my mind that I’d heard the branch at CW can only do six months, hence the reason for my post. I’ll go to my normal branch as you suggest. You mention that CW can write the BANK LETTER. Apologies for my ignorance, but what is a bank letter, and when would I need one.
PS I hope you meant 65k Baht and not 665k Baht 555
