What are the latest updates on the enforcement of TM30 requirements for foreign residents in Thailand?

Earlier this year it was muted that the Chaeng Wattana immigration office was going enforce the TM30 requirement. Not wanting to jeopardise the renewal of my retirement extension, I submitted my application. I was told by the young lady IO that I would have to up date again on re entering Thailand after spending any time abroad. I’m now reading reports that they are going to strictly enforce the update of the TM30 notice if we spend more than 24hrs outside the province. By this, I’m assuming, if I spend a weekend in Pattaya, I will have to report first thing Monday morning. As we all know, the queues at CW on Monday mornings are horrendous. Has anyone heard any further updates on this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the enforcement of the TM30 requirement at the Chaeng Wattana immigration office, where expats must report their address whenever they re-enter Thailand after traveling abroad. There are concerns about the process, particularly the long queues at the office, and advice to ensure compliance to avoid issues when applying for visa extensions. Some commenters suggest that fines may apply if the TM30 notice is not updated in time.

The TM30 can be filed with an app called section 38

Here's the deal. If you travel somewhere and show your passport, then you can presume that your location is being registered with Immigration. If that address doesn't match the address on your application (when you go to make your extension), then you're going to have a hard time. If you travel somewhere and show your passport, you will be caught and fined at Chaeng Wattana. It's that simple.

i always write the whole day off when applying for my extension and re-entry permits. I tell myself it’s only one day a year, this seems to ease the frustration when waiting in the long queue.

There are a lot of people, but it goes fast. Well, scratch that...it's not as slow as other counters at the Immigration Office. :)

This can be done online but I haven't done it. My landlord applied for a username/password to use the website, but still hasn't received confirmation of the account after two weeks. There are others online who also say it can take a while to get the online system up and running. However, if you left Bangkok and showed your passport somewhere that registered it, then you should re-register with your Bangkok address before you go to Chaeng Wattana to apply for a new visa using your Bangkok address.

can you do this online?

I’m on a tourist and filled for my address/condo already. I went away for 3 nights this last weekend. Should I register again before I apply for my new visa in 2 weeks?

that’s good news, as it means I don’t need all the landlords info’ when report again. Thanks for the update. The only obstacle now is the volume of people at CW waiting to report.

The form I posted is the standard TM30 form, yes. I know that you can self-file at Chaeng Wattana, filling it out as in the photo, because I did it two weeks ago. I don't know the regulations at other Immigration offices, though, and they could be different...This is Thailand, after all.

Brizz Brizz is this self filing form you are showing the same as a normal TM30 form. Or is it a special form for Chaeng Wattana use only.

Thanks for advice, good to know

If your landlord has registered you at your current address, then you are already registered and should be okay.

I went to Koh Chang for a month in April, I have not notified CW that I returned to BKK in May, but my landlord filed a new TM30 on my return and again two weeks ago when I moved to a different apartment in the same condo.. Do I also have to report to immigration before doing my extension next month? (Marriage )

Two weeks ago, I registered by myself (and paid the fine), without any information from my landlord, using the form linked below. This works at Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok, but I don't know about other offices around the country.

I registered in May, my landlord gave me all their details to allow me to do this. This entailed quite a lots of paperwork. I asked the IO if I needed to provide all this information every time I re register, she said yes. I’ve since seen other posts where you only need to provide your own details when re registering. Any ideas of the correct procedure?

Maxim Thibodeau Getting a wife doesn't always work. If your wife owns the house you live in, for example, she's still responsible for registering you. If you use your wife's details to make travel reservations to other provinces, you can reduce the chances that you'll be asked to show your passport, but you may still be asked for your passport upon check-in...in this case, it's up to the whims of the staff at your hotel to look the other way.

Legally, the owner of your condo is responsible for registering you. There is an online system, but this requires that your landlord register with their details (and sometimes it takes weeks just to get a username and password). Legally, this registration must be done 24 hours after you change addresses. Alternatively, if you're traveling with a Thai, you can make all the reservations in the name of your Thai friend and (potentially) not show your passport when checking in...Alternatively, many airbnb hosts will not ask for your passport, so going that route may also save you the hassle.

thanks, that’s not too difficult. I imagine that if I return to Thailand on a Saturday, I will need to report the following Monday. I think the biggest problem is the length of the queue at CW on. Monday morning.

You register as returning to your apartment.

now I’m totally confused. If I go to a hotel outside my province, and they register me as staying there for say two nights. When I return to BKK, do I register as returning to my apartment address, or do I put the address of the hotel I stayed at.
Werner *******
I was at Chaeng Wattana two weeks ago and the line to register the TM30 form was over 400 people.

But make sure you do it before applying for your extension.

@Frederick ********
. Basically yes. They're actually now enforcing it. They may knock back your extension if you're tm30 isn't up to date. If it's still registered at the hotel you stayed at, they will can your application for extension. So update it prior. Monday if you don't want to pay a fine.
