Can I walk in for a retirement extension renewal at Bangkok Chaengwattana or do I need a pre-booked appointment?

I’m due to renew my retirement extension soon at Bangkok CW. Can someone tell me if they are only accepting pre booked appointments, or can I just walk in as in the past. Also, are they doing the extensions at the CW immigration building, or elsewhere.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The renewal for the retirement extension at the Chaengwattana Immigration Office in Bangkok can be done either by walking in or by booking an appointment online. However, it is highly recommended to make an appointment in advance, as it significantly reduces waiting time. A recent experience highlighted that individuals with appointments were seen immediately, while walk-ins faced long delays.

Also you can apply for an extension in Bangkok when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. BUT remember if you are applying for an extension that requires funds to be seasoned, the seasoning needs to be met on the date you apply for the extension not the date your current stamp runs out.

It's at Chaengwattana and you can walk in

BUT

It's far better to make an online appointment.

I was with a friend yesterday getting her retirement extension. We got there at 9:45 with a 10AM appointment.

When we got there they were handing out queue number 70 and they were waiting on number 20 (so 50+ people waiting). We showed the appointment booking, and were seen immediately. She was done with her extension before 10AM and waiting for her passport to be signed..

many thanks Tod. As per usual you’ve been a great help.

DON'T make a booking earlier than about 9:00-9:30 because you'll get stuck in the herd of people trying to get in.

I'd say a 10-10:15 appointment is the best time.

sorry to bother you again, but have to ask one more question. If you book an appointment to apply for your extension. What sort of time frame in advance are we talking about. Can we get an appointment fairly quickly, or is there a long waiting list. Bearing in mind we have to arrange confirmation from the Bank letters which can not be older than one week etc.
