DTV visa approved - my experience:

Currently in the UK so I applied via the e-visa website, so the UK Thai consulate handled everything.

Couple of interesting points to mention:

- it only took 4 days to approve

- the 500k was only transferred to my UK bank account a week before I applied. I only provided my august 2024 bank statement - they didn't ask for anything else

- part of that 500k was a small loan from my parents. When they transferred the money to my bank account they put "loan" as the reference. This didn't cause any issues or raise any questions.

- I applied via the medical tourism route. I asked my dentist to write me a letter detailing a couple of appointments that I have during September and next year.

Overall, I would say that my experience of applying for the DTV was incredibly easy and straightforward. Very quick and no questions asked.

Happy to answer any questions relating to my specific experience.

Hi - Before when I have applied for visas its all done online with uploaded PDF's - do you have physically have to send the passport and get a sticker page or is it a A4 print like before? - How do they obtain the photograph or is that uploaded also? - Sorry for questions! thanks in advance!

@Steve ******
If you apply in person to an Embassy, you get a physical stamp. Online applications receive a PDF with the visa. Upload your pic online.
Steve *******
OK - many thanks thought as much - looks easy and also very easy to overthink the process!

thanks for that. Appreciate the fast reply

Did they ask for proof of accommodation? If so how long for. I heard somebody applying for remote worker route from Malaysia needed a 6 month rental contract was part of the application nightmare.

I put my condo address but they didn't ask to see my tenancy agreement or any proof.

@Milo ********
seems like the way to go is applying from own country London e-visa
Andi ***********
@Darren *********
London Embassy seems the easiest way to go., Malaysia, Laos now asking for 6 mths bank statements , rental agreements etc.

I had a very similar experience. Quick, straight forward. I just had to prove my company existence so sent companies house info and a support letter from my accountant.

The whole thing only took a few days

That’s unreal that’s all it took. I wouldn’t look for this visa to last very long. Get it while you can.

based on the interviews I've seen with government officials, it seems like they are intentionally making it very easy. I guess we'll see how long it lasts and if it has the desired effect on tourism numbers.

Thank you for this.

Congrats🔥🔥🔥I love seeing these approvals!!

A little clarity on the medical route. It doesn’t have to be a serious medical issue. Time to sign up for Invisalign with your dentist.

@Marty ********
yeah that's exactly what I did - having another round of Invisalign. And yep, I hear that just a single dental appointment is sufficient to get a DTV, but I didn't want to risk being rejected so I asked my dentist to detail all the appointments I need over the next year or so

@Milo ********
👍 and I did Invisalign 15 years ago. You won’t regret it.

Wowie. I was going to apply through my remote work but I'm in Thailand rn. Going to just get my braces dentist to give me some check up appointments and apply with those!
Zoe *******
Also, does it say your DTV is for medical tourism or does it just state DTV?
Milo *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Zoe ******
it doesn't mention anything about medical tourism

@Milo ********
Was your letter from the dentist addressed to the UK Thai Embassy or just a general appointments letter?
Milo *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Andi **********
it was a letter addressed to "whom it may concern". My dentist put my passport number on there, and a bunch of detail about the treatments I'm due to have and how it's important that I adhere to the scheduled treatments to ensure the best outcome.

I asked my dentist to put this level of detail on there because I wanted to ensure that I didn't get rejected. But as mentioned above, I've heard that a simple appointment card may be enough to get approved. The extra detail doesn't hurt though!
Andi ***********
@Milo ********
ok, yeah I think the extra detail is good...I have a follow up root canal treatment in Dec and may use that for my DTV. Seems much easier than the remote work route.

@Zoe ******
yeah I'm in Thailand to get Invisalign so I need a scan, a fitting, a half way check etc. But what I've heard, just one appointment is sufficient to apply for a DTV
Zoe *******
Bloody hell. Congrats! I had my braces here and the results are great ☀ good luck.

@Zoe ******
same! This is my 2nd round of Invisalign as I need a couple of tweaks.. very happy with the care I've received so far though!

Andi ***********
@G *******
yes it is
Alex ********
Congrats! Did you have to show flights out of UK/I to TH as some others have reported with the eVisa through London embassy?
Milo *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Alex *******
no - although I had already booked my flight, they didn't ask to see the tickets. I just put the flight number and arrival/departure dates on my application

thank you for that update and congrats on your visa acquisition (y)
