Your passport expires 4 OCT 2026? I see the entry and re-entry. So you will need to visit to transfer the LTR-P visa and re-entry to a new passport before 4 OCT 2026

We will see what happens with at extension time. Will they require the 500,000THB to have been there for the first period? I am surprised they did not add an insurance requirement as with a number of other like visas. This group will have motorcycle accidents. Lastly, many will get caught with taxation and cry about it.

Can one go to the LTR office in Bangkok and have them cross the hall with one’s passport/self to immigration and “transfer” the evisa and multiple entry to the physical passport?

I agree. Retirees and those who married Thai provide a base of revenue every day in communities throughout Thailand. The tourists come during good seasons, spend money at tourist shops/venues, and run scared with incidences. We should be more appreciated and given more benefits and less paperwork. Those with DTVs, O-As, O-Xs, Os -retirement/marriage, and the Elite visas are going to be in for a great surprise in 2025 with Thai taxes. The do not believe the Thais are serious, and most have a poor understand of their respective DTTs and the paperwork/documentation required to address both countries’ taxation and tax credits.

What suspected changes to the LTR pensioner visa? And what led to these suspicions?

If OK with the LTR unit, they will issue you an endorsement document which means that you have satisfied the requirements. With that, you then make an appointment with them within the 60 days of the endorsement letter. On the appointment day, you go to their office in Bangkok with the required signed documents (they will let you know what). They will assign a staff person to go over the documents. Once that is done, you go for a photograph. Your documents and passport are sent across the hall to immigration for processing. The LTR staff member will get you after immigration has OKed the documents and bring you to immigration where you will pay the 50,000 THB and get a receipt.. From there you will go to the special LTR Window in immigration for a photograph and show the receipt.. They will then process the visa. They will call you to the window and show you the visa for 2034, entry until 2029, multiple entry stamp, and 1 year reporting note stapled to your passport. You go back across the hall to the LTR unit where the assigned staff member will review your passport to ensure the correct visa, entry date, multiple entry stamp, and 1 year reporting note.

To me, the LTR is worth it primarily for its exemption from the recent overseas repatriation income ruling and the proposed one to tax worldwide income. The 10 year period, 1 year reporting, and multiple entries are good extras. In my opinion, it is still the best type of visa. Sure beats the Elite Visa in cost and practical benefits. It may not have met the BoI volume goals, but it has given me peace of mind…that is what is important to me.
