If you do the softpower way lets say with muay thai, will they ask you for new course purchase once you fly back to thailand to get new stamp once your first 6 months are expired? How about the extension way at immigration?

I am planning to stay 6 months per year in thailand and fly back 6 months later

Just a quick question please - does the 6 months per year stay in Thailand start at the beginning of each year, ie January through December or is it in a any 12 months period ie from April through March?. Thank you in advance.

🏦 Bank Update: Just saw this when I walked into Krungsri to have them activate my mobile banking app on my new phone. As of February 9, 2024, they no longer open accounts for these types of visas:

1. Tourist

2. Free Visa

3. DTV

4. ED (except 4 years at a University and International School).

I'm so lucky my landlord helped me open an account years ago. 🙏💳📃

I am not too sure what is the requirement for the Muay Thai Visa. Do I have to actually go train or just pay for the class is enough ? How long of a period do I have to train and will they ask me mutliple time to provide proof of training ? Thank you

Well, it’s been a bit of a journey, but today I got my Long Term Residency permit from the Kingdom of Thailand. I still need to do annual reporting (unless I leave the country), and I will have to go in when my passport expires in a couple of years, but basically other than housekeeping, I have 10 years of not having to deal with the immigration department. Have to say, that makes all the paperwork and effort worth it 😎

Success story from TAIPEI (remote worker) 🎉

Dropped documents on Tuesday morning, was told to come back at 4 if it’s good they’ll take the money if not no. I did it for me and dependents and wasn’t asked for more documents.

What I brought (original + copies) :

- application form

- bank statement, latest one (6 months with ending balance more than 500 000)

-Remote worker contract

- certification letter from the employer

- License of the company

- English translation from a translator but not notarized.

I paid fees for 4 people (for those with less than 5 years validity passports they wrote with a pen the expiration date of each passeport and told me it will be up to immigration…) but obviously we will keep the old ones when renewing passports.

They didn’t really asked for specific documents they took it all and were happy that i provided 6 months bank statements.

I didn’t had to wait too long it was quick and they were kind.

Good luck to everyone 🙏🏻

not sure what’s up with the exchange rate but my dtv visa was a $400 USD (฿14K+), not ฿10,000. the receipt doesn’t itemize any additional fees so i’m assuming that’s the true fee. curious what others paid.

Might help someone who also messed up their paperwork this year: I exited by road on 15th to Savvanakhet. Applied for visa day 1. Cost 2000thb. Submitted app form, kor ror 2, copy of wife's name change cert, copy of her I'd and house book, copy of all of my passport pages and 2 passport photos. You will need to go to visa on arrival at Laos with another photo and form, then pay 50 baht for the bus accross (don't exit thailand before buying a ticket or face some stern words from the IO who has to go get it for you, oops). There is a good hotel called machiato coffee which is 30 seconds from the office and has everything you need, except the WiFi is a bit slow. Thanks to the advisers on this page that helped the trip run so smooth.

I am married to a Thai lady and also have a child here. I have read that for my 1st year I cannot use the monthly (40k ) method as UK does not issue confirmation of finances. But I have lived here now for few years using border bounces etc. if I can now show immigration 12monthly statements in Thai bank account of 40k + a month can i still not use this to obtain 90 day non O visa based on marriage or Thai child. Or do I still need to show 400k in Thai bank account to get the initial visa an 12 month extension?
