Soon I will need to get a new passport. I know that the retirement extension and multi re-entry permit stamps will be transferred by IO to the new passport. My question has to do with my original O-A visa (2012) in the old passport.
Will I need to carry around the old passport for any reason to enter/exit Thailand because it has the original visa upon which the extension was based? Also, will photocopies of that old visa be required for subsequent extensions (I have made photocopies of that visa for previous extension documentation)?
Thanks... This question has probably been answered a number of times in the past.....sorry to ask for it again.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After obtaining a new passport, you generally do not need to carry your old passport for entering or exiting Thailand, as the relevant visa information is transferred to your new passport. The immigration office will note your original O-A visa and any re-entry permits in the new passport. Photocopies of the old visa might be helpful for future extensions, but they are typically not required.
