Hi All

My wealthy pensioner LTR visa under BOI was rejected after almost 4 months of waiting. All supporting documents were provided. I am eligible for sure but now they have decided I don’t qualify. I called to ask them the reason and I was told even they don’t know as it was rejected by the Immigration. This makes no sense, and I am quite lost at this point. I had applied online by myself as it seemed straightforward.

Anyone has had a similar experience? Can I reapply?

I have a doubt about pensioner visa. Should 800000 baths be deposited for three months? And the duration of the visa is one year? To renew it I have to do the same process with the money... every month for the same amount?

Tengo una duda con respecto a la visa para jubilados. Los 800000 baths deben depositarse por tres meses? Y la duración de la visa es un año? Para renovarla debo hacer el mismo proceso con el dinero… cada mes por la misma cantidad?

I’ve seen references to both a “long term residence” visa and a “long term retirement” visa. Are these the same thing?

Hello, am considering a LTR Pensioner Visa. The rules on the BOI website state personal income is “unearned income, such as a pension, rental, capital gain etc” For me the important statement on the website is : Earned income such as salary will not be considered as eligible income for LTR Pensioners application.

As a newly retired person, salary has only just ceased. My Unearned Income will shortly commence, satisfying the BOI requirements. It seems the BOI need at least a 2 year history.

What I’m unclear about is my history of salary does not count so I can’t cite that, but sufficient unearned income will kick in in a couple of weeks time.

Should I wait two years, then apply ( assuming that visa is still available then) or apply now with the proof of my new form of income? Everything else is ok, it’s just that Unearned vs Salary mystery. I can’t be the first person to be a newly retired person with a new income stream! I’m attracted to the LTR as it seems simple, multi entry, could potentially work, not so much reporting.

Thanks for your advice.

Wanted to post my experience for the LTR VISA pensioner. I am a retired military officer- 53 years old. My pension /VA was enough to qualify for the amount. I was also able to prove that TRICARE was sufficient to qualify for the medical insurance. I downloaded the coverage from the milconnect page and also provided a letter from the TRICARE office on Okinawa which stated that coverage was available for costs in excess of $100,000.

The BOI personnel were very responsive from the online process. It probably would have processed faster, if I had responded quicker to their requests. After any response, they moved the process along within one business day.

Pretty straight forward for the application/process. I applied on 22 June and received my 10 year VISA time stamp today from the One Stop in Chamchuri office today- 26 July. I was in the office right at one hour. Initial stamp was the 5 year through 2028.

As I will be traveling a couple times a year back to the USA, the fast track through immigration will be welcomed. Also I will not have to report, as the one year timeline restarts whenever I re-enter the Kingdom. I was under a non-Imm O (didn’t have to cancel or do anything to that VISA, they wrote a note in my passport), so this new visa will also free up the funds I have sitting in a Thai bank account.

Very happy with this new VISA
