Since my consulate stopped with the income statement notarizations, I have used the monthly income method of 65,000THB+. I would like to move to the 800,000THB method, but don’t like the current exchange rates. Is it possible to open a USD account for around 27,000USD and use it to meet the 800,000THB requirement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about using a USD account to meet the 800,000 THB financial requirement for a visa in Thailand given the challenges with exchange rates. Community responses confirmed that it is possible to open a USD account and use it to meet the requirement, but users advised checking with the local Immigration Office for confirmation, as practices may vary by location.

Good Luck Bo ..the answer is at your local Thai Immigration office. With 70+ immigration offices in Thailand...not all may say OK. Ask yours first!

Just did it in Ranong.

Immigration accepts if your Bankletter also states the amount in Baht.

Bangkok Bank Impossible after 1 month trying to fulfill new demands...

Krungthai Bank did it in 1 hour.

Yes it is possible to open a USD account for around 27,000USD and use it to meet the 800,000THB requirement?

Advice is to check with your local Immigration Office if they also think it is possible.

A big issue with the 800,000THB in an account is that Bangkok Bank told me they have no provisions for beneficiaries should there be death. Thus, you would need a Thai will. Joint account would not work because I think that the 800,000THB would be only 400,000THB for retirement extension purposes.

Bangkok Bank, but because of where I live, they may not have the necessary USD if I want to withdraw in USD. I would need to go to a major city for that. They would let me convert any USD withdrawal to THB locally.

it is possible, but I would check with your local Immigration Office to be sure before you start the process.
