Volunteer . . . . .I was going to extend it for a year but of course now we need a work permit to extend and I can't get a work permit . . . . . .so I need to go get another one now I think, while they figure all this out.

Thanks for your responses. I went today and there was no problem. I also did my husband's TM30 stamp and he arrived Wednesday last week and there was no problem with that either (5 days later). It seems the urgent 24 hr requirement is only for the original notification of address and that the 24 hr requirement for getting a new stamp after leaving the country is much more lax, at least here in Chiangmai.
