I am planning to come to Thailand on a 60 day visa and to later extend it to 90 days.

This is because on arrival I plan to sign up to a condo, then open a bank account with k bank, deposit 800000 tbh then apply for a non O visa, with the hope I can extend for one year, as a "retirement visa"

Does that sound sensible and realistic?

If you get the DTV soft power do immigration check attendance like they do ED visas? I have the workcation already but just wondering what happens if you dont like where you signed up to and then change to another course or even just quit? The gym or other soft power orgs are just gonna be quids in arent they?

Hello everybody! I'm currently on a DTV visa, but I married recently and want to switch to a non-o marriage visa. Can somebody tell me if I need to cancel my DTV visa first, before I can apply for a non-o marriage visa? Or I can simply apply for the new visa and my old visa would be automatically cancelled?

Someone here mentioned that only the embassy/consulate who issued you the visa can cancel it. I got my DTV from Laos, Consulate. Do I need to visit Laos again to cancel my DTV visa?

I'll be applying for non-o visa from my home country and not Laos. So making a trip to Laos just to cancel my current DTV visa will be quite a hassle.

Hi I'm just seeking advice so I get things in the right order. I arrived on a Non-Immigrant O Visa for 90days. I entered on 8th December and have accommodation for a month.

I have a TM30 but I understand I need a Residency certificate to open a bank account.

Will I be able to get a Residency Certificate with 30 days accommodation booked? If not, what is the criteria?

My intention is to apply for a further 90 day visa then the year extension.

Is this the right way of doing things?

Multi entry gotcha!

I recently renewed my retirement visa a month before it was due. I made the mistake of assuming that my previous visa stamp and multi entry was valid until the expiry date. No so, the new one replaces the existing stamp.

As I didn't have a new re entry stamp I was nearly denied entry as the previous multi entry stamp was invalidated with the new visa stamp.

Fortunately after some discussion with a senior officer they allowed me to enter.

Quick question - I entered Thailand last week on DTV. Can I drive (legally) in Bangkok with a valid IDP or do I need to apply for Thai Drivers licence?

As a newbie, can I get a straight about DTV for Thai language programs? When I googled it, and read the embassies page, it looks like a hard no. But the first few posts that I've seen here mention success stories with DTV for Thai language programs, so which is it?

Dear members, I've researched the topic but I would like to ask this group as well... Has anyone here applied for DTV for soft power while non-B was still valid?

I've been working legally in Thailand for two years, but my employment will end next month and naturally, my non-B will be cancelled. My plan is to apply for DTV for Muay Thai (I've been training for years) while my non-B is still valid, return to Thailand on my non-B after DTV gets approved (hopefully), and when the non-B gets cancelled next month, I'd leave Thailand again and return on DTV.

My income will come from investments in my home country and online work from outside the country. I will not work in Thailand - but I wish to avoid that officers will suspect otherwise. Has anybody else transitioned from non-B to DTV like this? I'd appreciate you to share your experience, tips & tricks...

Thank you for sharing!
