In regards the 800,000 in a bank for a retirement visa those funds have to come from overseas. Previously when transferring via Wise, there was an option on the drop down menu to say the reason for transfer was 'funds for long term stay' that would then show as international transfer with Bangkok Bank. However that dropdown option no longer exists with Wise. Has anyone else noticed this or know a work around?

Update: On the Wise site it suggests putting in purchase of property. However I emailed Wise and they replied saying either select 'Funds for Long term stay' or if it is not there (why do they not know whether it is there or not!?!) or Other and then type in 'Funds for long term stay'. However the APP does not let you do this, perhaps a few other regular users could email Wise and point out that they will be losing a lot of cutomers...

Update 2:

Having further questioned Wise below is their 2nd reply:

'....was able to run a further investigation and found out that we have made changes to transfer purpose list for customer sending THB.

We've updated the transfer purpose list to make it easier for them to choose. Rest assured, they can still make the same transfers as before, just with the new list of transfer purposes.

Guide to THB transfers

How to get your THB transfer marked as International Transfer by the recipient bank?

If your recipient Bank is Kasikorn Bank or Bangkok Bank:

Set transfer amount and currency to THB

Add recipient details

Choose Kasikorn Bank or Bangkok Bank Public Company as the recipient bank

Enter account number

On Transfer Purpose: select Purchase of Property

Review transfer details and Confirm

Select pay-in method, and pay for your transfer

You’re all set!

Your transfer should be marked as International Transfer in your recipient bank’s app, website, or passbook.*'

2 things to note. Wise is asking you to lie if you are not purchasing property, and they say your transfer SHOULD be marked as International Transfer, not WILL.

Anyway I have sent a small amount like this as a test...

Change Non-O (retirement) to DTV.

Morning.

So I have a Non-O EOS till next March, but would like to change to DTV sooner than that. Reasons are apparent ease of application for dependant spouse (Cambodian) and due to the nature of her job, the Cambodian gov don't want her to have a long-term Thai Visa. Cambodia calls the DTV a special tourist visa.

I own and run a property business in the UK remotely, though it requires several trips back per year.

Do I need to do anything with the Non-O in Thailand before applying for DTV in Cambodia (inform, cancel etc)? I have a multi-entry permit.

Many thanks.

Hello!

I’m from the uk, currently in Australia. Looking to get a 60 day visa & extend when I’m there for the extra 30 days (90 total)

On way to Australia I stopped for 2/3 days in Thailand & this was July 2nd. I only got a 30 day visa stamp, when I thought we got a 60 day visa from the 1st June 2024. Now I’ve looked online and to apply for a single entry visa (60 days) but wants proof of an outgoing flight. But how does this work if I’m looking to extend to get the full 90 days.

Thanks 👍🏼

Hello all.

Hopefully a quick question, we have changed our plans whilst out in SE Asia and have decided to extend our stay.

We are from the UK have already consumed our first 30 day visa exemption (landed in Bangkok and travelled north for 12 days before entering Laos in May) I realise we have a second 30 day exemption an intend to revisit Bangkok by air and travel South Thailand (Islands) after leaving Cambodia.

Is there a way I can extend the stay of the second exemption further, just for 5-10 days, to allow the second visit to be up to 40 days?

Thanks in adavnce ;)

l entered Thailand in March 2020 on 30 day entry (not a visa) from Malaysia.

Then due to covid l got the usual extensions due as were available.

Following that l was unable to leave due to a criminal court case, which was continuously postponed due to covid, until l was eventually acquitted in July 2023.

l currently have no visa and only have a signed document from the court, that l was unable to leave due to the court case.

From what l understand, this means l have been overstaying probably since around December or January 2020/2021 which is the last time l was at an immigration office. At that point l was simply told by the immigration officer to simply comeback when the court case had been completed. Well as mentioned l was acquitted but with little help or l assume the wrong advice from my lawyer at the time, l am obviously now overstaying and wonder if l have any options than simply paying a fine or if l will be arrested if l either go to immigration myself or if l try to leave via flight. l have no wish to remain in Thailand, nor do l have wish to return and just wish to leave as painlessly as possible even if it means a fine and blacklisting or both. l would like to avoid being sent to lDC or having to get involved with the courts again.

Do l have any options that do not require atleast a trip to lDC?

Before anyone makes snide remarks: Yes l am aware that l screwed up and no matter what bad advice l was given it is my own responsibility.

American on visa exempt, in regards to tm30 forms, my landlord did one so no problems there, but in regards to getting a copy of a tm30 one from a hotel, I have only been met with blank stares by hotel staff. I thought all hotels file those when a foreigner stays there, or not for only one night?

Hi folks. I’m asking this for a friend in Phuket. She is about to lease her house to a couple of South African young ladies who are in Phuket for teaching jobs. I said to my friend that she should make sure she completes TM30 within 24 hours of the girls moving in. She has been told (not by Immigration) that the tenants have to report their residency themselves and she as landlord doesn’t have to do TM30.

Has something changed in Phuket or is the advice she was given incorrect. My friend should do the TM30 or risk a fine.

Many thanks for your help

Merry Christmas.
