This is a common misunderstanding.

You can apply using your own funds just by ensuring you have properly seasoned funds, and have filed your TM30 correctly.

We assist customers with this all the time. If an agency, or officer says you must go back to the agent or cannot apply on your own when you fully meet this requirements this is wrong.

The DTV is not available yet.

Also from what we understand you will not be able to apply for it within Thailand.

US passport will get a 30 Tourist Visa Exemption (no visa requirement).

The LTR visa application process is fairly strict, and thorough.

If you do not meet the requirements then approval is unlikely (we have handle hundreds LTR of cases, if anything you can be rejected when meeting all of the requirements in error).

Since you are 45 it may make sense to get the 5 year elite, and then transition to a retirement visa.

Are you referring to the 500b a day fine for overstay?

Did you commit a crime while overstaying, or did you overstay because of your detention?

It depends on what you have done as that will dictate the blacklsiting.

With serious criminal offenses your visa is usually canceled, and they will put you on a special short term visa to deal with any court cases assuming you are not already found guilty and serving time.

Also in many cases you are immediately blacklisted through this process. If you are found innocent you will have to go through the proper channels, and acquire proof of this to have the blacklist removed.

Lawyers, and Law Firms tend to have strict hours ( their cutoff seems to be 6pm ).

It's possible they are closed.
