I stayed at the Pilgrim Kitchen & Inn in the old town. Basic 2 star place but the staff are very friendly and speak good English. Not much to see but the accommodation was within walking distance of 3 reasonable restaurants/bars.

Werner Brizz I could only get a 3 month O visa in London following the change of rules, so this gives me 12 months (15 with a carefully placed visa run) to get everything in order for an extension.

Application form (obtained from the shop opposite Consulate the day before)

Copy of data page of my Passport (signed by me)

Copy of Laos entry Visa.(signed by me)

Copy of Laos Entry stamp (signed by me)

Copy of red-bordered marriage certificate (front & back on one sheet of paper. Signed by wife & me)

Copy of Wife's ID card (front & back on one side of A4. Signed by my wife)

Copy of Wife's House Book (page 1 & 2 on one side of A4. Signed by my wife)

Original of Marriage Certificate for inspection.

5000 baht

The shop opposite will check everything and put them in order (100 baht) They will also do whatever copies are needed.

It was quiet when I went on Tuesday morning. No more than 2 dozen people.
