Just got back from Savannakhet. Multiple O for Marriage was easy. The only doc the IO studied was the original red-bordered marriage certificate. A grand total of 7 pieces of paper submitted. Only down-side is that Savannakhet may be the most boring town in Asia.

Anyone confirm if it's necessary for the wife to sign the copy of the marriage certificate? Much appreciated.

Locals tell me more 'Tour' vans are arriving every month. Have two decent coffee places opposite the Consulate already.

no, if you follow some news they have been very strict on ED and Tourist. It will remain a small quiet place

Not so easy to get too. Took me a 6 hour drive from Korat. That said, I suspect it will get busier there.

I stayed at the Pilgrim Kitchen & Inn in the old town. Basic 2 star place but the staff are very friendly and speak good English. Not much to see but the accommodation was within walking distance of 3 reasonable restaurants/bars.

Good news for many. But would like to know about what docs and if financials were requested. Some have mentioned to me privately that they were not.

I'm going to HCMC to do mine next month, but it's useful to know that Savannakhet is still doing this without much hassle.

Werner Brizz I could only get a 3 month O visa in London following the change of rules, so this gives me 12 months (15 with a carefully placed visa run) to get everything in order for an extension.

Did your wife submit a letter asking them to grant the visa for you? I hear this is required in other places.

First time in Savannakhet for me.

I submitted:

Application form (obtained from the shop opposite Consulate the day before)

Copy of data page of my Passport (signed by me)

Copy of Laos entry Visa.(signed by me)

Copy of Laos Entry stamp (signed by me)

Copy of red-bordered marriage certificate (front & back on one sheet of paper. Signed by wife & me)

Copy of Wife's ID card (front & back on one side of A4. Signed by my wife)

Copy of Wife's House Book (page 1 & 2 on one side of A4. Signed by my wife)

Original of Marriage Certificate for inspection.

5000 baht

The shop opposite will check everything and put them in order (100 baht) They will also do whatever copies are needed.

It was quiet when I went on Tuesday morning. No more than 2 dozen people.
