Korat Immigration. 800k in the bank for a retirement extension. 2 months before + 1 after OR 3 months before. Anyone have any info? Literally asking for a friend.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For obtaining a retirement extension visa in Thailand, particularly at Korat Immigration, the official requirement states that you must have 800,000 THB in the bank for at least 2 months prior and 1 month after the application period. Alternatively, it's also allowed to maintain the 800k balance for 3 months before the application. However, it’s crucial to maintain a balance above 400,000 THB for the remainder of the year, ensuring it returns to 800,000 THB at least 2 months prior to the next application. It's noted that different offices may interpret these rules variably.

The official line is 800k 2 months before and 3 months after for a retirement extension. Balance can’t go below 400k for the rest of the year and must be back to 800k 2 months prior to the next one.

That said some offices may interpret the rules differently. I do not know of the Korat office policies.

My friend came back with a list from the local immigration office, which says 3 months before. A problem for him as he only has 2 months. Worthy of note that he has previously renewed his visa through an agent at Jomtien. By looking at his passport, the Korat immigration could tell this apparently. They knew that previously he had paid to get around the problems of a lump sum.

generally once you start with an agent you're stuck using that agent from that point forward every year. Most immigration offices can recognize a dodgy stamp and won't touch that passport. So then they must return to the agent and keep using them no matter what the price because they've locked themselves out of doing it legitimately.
