TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the problems users encounter when transferring funds using Wise to various Thai banks, particularly Bangkok Bank. Users report that while some banks like Kasikorn and Krungsri have issues with Wise transfers, others like Bangkok Bank can process the transfers quickly under certain conditions. However, there are notable frustrations regarding delays, regulatory requirements, and the impact of the bank's policies on international transfers, leading some users to seek alternative services like Remitly.

The exchange rate of BB (receiving foreign currencies TT to Thai is the worst). Mean Bangkok bank want to have biz and that’s why they don’t like wise.

Wise to Bangkok bank have been a problem for a while. Often even 24hours is not enough. Remitly seems to be better option.

Wise transfers to Bangkok bank also transfers in seconds when you choose e.g. 'Other' as a reason. If you use 'funds for long stay in Thailand' it takes a day if you transfer after 09:30h. Then it comes in as international transfer. (last month there where some issues with wise. Now solved.

You also have to watch out with the reason of transfer, because they relocated it to the last page before transfering. It saves y'r last used reason. On that last page you have to scroll down before you see the reason with a clickable word 'change'. There you have to choose 'Funds for longstay.........' if not already there.

Well I received an email from wise stating that they want to confirm my residential address in thailand due to regulatory requirements. If unable to show proof by the 29th October they will suspend the account.

I also received this email from Wise a few days ago.

After logging in to the app, a red rectangle appeared at the top asking me to confirm my address. My address information was there. After confirming, the red box disappeared.

But...it did say they would check this and might ask for additional proof.

My problematic September deposit was labeled

This is a local Thai bank to Thai bank transfer.

I went to the intermediate Bank - Kasikorn International Services and requested a FET form to attach to my extension package June 2026

I read that Thai banks have imposed a 50k baht incoming per transaction limit. I just wanted to know if that limit has already come into effect or not as I need to transfer more than that into kasikorn from wise.

I have not been able to receive any funds from wize to my krungsri account for almost 6 months now.

When visiting the bank, all they told me that wize payments are all blocked (not just my account), instruction from head office.

Contacting wize only resulted in wize requesting all kinds of documents and absolutely no change from krungsri, no matter what documents are produced.

Anyway like everyone else I've just emptied my account, after a decade of use, and I'll be moving on with my life using bank my accounts from other countries.

Same here. Tagged as DEP TR F E-CH. Hopefully immigration will understand this as international transfer otherwise it is letter from the bank verifying it is international transfer. It will cost you 200 Baht . (Bank making money again). 😢

this tag is an internal transfer between Thai Banks.

If your transfer was routed through Kasikorn Bank and then to Bangkok Bank. I believe you will need the following.

I did this this week for the September transfer. For the rest of the year I will do SWIFT transfers to avoid this potential problem.

1. An FET letter from K-bank International Services. K-bank will likely ask you to bring a receipt for the deposit from Bangkok bank first.

2. Bangkok Bank will only provide the receipt from the branch where the account was opened.

At least two branches here in Bangkok told me that I needed to drive to Buriram where I opened the original account to get this receipt.

Been down this road before. The banks and Wise p@ss me off with this crap. Kasikorn do not issue a FET anymore. They will issue a letter stating they are international transfers for 200 Baht to show immigration what they are. The E stands for external not internal. I don't know Wise are doing but they certainly don't follow their name. Swift is a messaging system and a corrupt one at that. No money changes hands by the way. Look it up!

interesting 🤔

I thought the letter I received was FET but then it is all in Thai so I did not know that for a fact.

Does the E standing for external qualify for the purposes of immigrations monthly 65k foreign transaction?

If SWIFT is to be avoided then what would be an alternative secure transfer method?

This is the same problem with Wise. Wise describes the problem in his app that the Bank of Thailand does not authorize a labeling as an international transfer. The recommendation is to obtain the confirmation from the correspondent bank, which will be the first to receive the money. In order to secure a transfer as an international transfer, Wise recommends Swift Transfer from bank to bank directly in its own app.

yes, but in the WISE case it just started being a problem Sep 2025.

I Went through the confirmation process you suggest this week to secure documentation for my SEP 2025 international transfer.
